i'm never forgiving people for letting caution freefall like that but at least it was a top 5 album (not to mention, it was critically acclaimed)
It makes me upset how UNDERRATED Caution was. It was better than a lot of albums released that year and deserved so much more smh
I love how every Christmas, all I want for Christmas come back to the top
Even if Mariahs recent albums don’t sell as well at least her Christmas album charts every year.

Her debut and Music Box were so stable 🤯 But I really thought Daydream and TEoM would have charted longer, because of the big hits which are on these albums

Daydream was definitely sabotaged by Tommy Motola it would be bigger than music box same for Butterfly and Rainbow due to their divorced. TEOM was bigger in term of singles but she sold 6 millions copies in the US and it was the best selling album in 2005

@@aguti7920 she would have easily 5 no.1 from daydream era if they realized open arms or forever as singles not airplay songs. He sabotaged the end of the promotion of the album since her scam at the Grammys

Daydream probably underperformed in the album department comapred to Music Box because Single Sales for Fantasy, One Sweet Day, and Always Be My Baby were higher compared to Music Box's singles. since streaming didn't exist in 1996, labels only had a choice on whether to focus on singles or albums, and Sony probably chose singles for Daydream. consumers who weren't that well off also had the same choice. it really set artists apart, unlike now where differences in the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 are only noticeable on some artists.

@@zedriclouis87 yeah, it is also the reason why Britney's singles in the US didn't peak really high on the chart. Labels back then were more into album sales rather than single sales (there's a reason why 1 million+ first week album sales were not that rare back in the late 90s-early 00s)
we would like a fantasy hot 100 with 40 #1s minimum but no pressure 💕
Her #1's compilation just re-peaked at #20 a few weeks ago. Update.

Ya because her CD's were cheaper so more people bought it. Billboard is calculated from units sold, not money made. This is why Mariah has so much billboard success but her net worth is lower than her contemporaries

@@brentthompson1607 idk Mariah’s net worth was at 500million for the longest. That’s pre internet reign.. Rihanna and all these other rich artist have other things they’re invested in that make them that rich meanwhile mariah was making just as much with just her music

Sadly Glitter was sabotaged by Mottola and Mariah was having mental issues in that era because the label enforced her to overwork, she only slept like 4 hours at one point. She couldn't do the promotion.
