Lambs always say “this could’ve been #1!” about a lot of songs in Mariah’s discography but if I were to truly pick THE hit that got away it’s this. It sounded fresh when it dropped and it STILL sounds fresh as hell rn. If only it was promoted and featured a big rapper like Cardi or possibly even Drake it would’ve been a huge hit. Mariah's fan base doesn't stream much. They belong to the generations that bought music and requested them on the radio. Mariah ruled the charts in the 90s to the early 2000s from sales and heavy airplay. For veterans and artists with legacies, getting new music on the radio can be difficult and a very political thing, too, though. I predict Mariah will one day pull off some kind of 'Believe' by Cher and have a big hit later in her career that has nothing to do with Christmas.

@Hore Store I gotta give Ariana Grande credit for expressing her love for Mariah Carey, in spite of many of her fans hating on Mariah. Ariana greeted Mariah on her -birthday- anniversary (Mar 27th) this year with a big, beautiful picture on her Instagram story and nothing but admiration-- and Mariah returned the love.

Weslympaint: sometimes I wonder if Ariana is just a talented imitator or vocalist. Her diction needs help bc she’s focused on rounding her sounds but her actual projections sounds muted and nasal. When she sings broadway then she seems more authentic
