Stop sweeping her wrong under your carpet. It was not a controversy. She cheated and she was caught. In many sports, it would have been the end of ger career and all her trophies would have have been given to the second runner-up because she did not earn them. It is unfair to other players.

@@tejbesetti2912 I was an athlete in my time and when you are caught, your titles are relinquished. Russians are known for drugs. In the 70ies and 80ies they ruled track and field. As soon as drug testing opened up its hooks, Russians no longer show up for work. Sharapova knew what she was taking. Do not give top athletes a pass. I will not be fooled in that regard. Everyone knows what he is taking. When you take anything that is not water, you know what it is about. Call this cheat the title that she crowned herself and stop making excuses for a criminal. People are jail for hard drugs and you are telling me that she paid the penalty for denying Simona her first GS title? I will never forgive her for what she did to Simona in the French open 2014

@@hihoyono7206 Come on you are equating mildronate which was perfectly legal until Jan 1 2016 and available over the counter with a state sponsored doping program which is total nonsense. The controversy in the Sharapova case was the complete disaster in the way the ITF, Wada and the WTA informed Maria (who was being monitored throughout 2015). Do you really think that Maria was that dependent on an aspirin type drug to go to the AO illegal . Only a state sponsored athlete using masks would be confidant enough to do that . Do you not think Sharapova deserved proper notification (maybe a call she wasn't"t living under a rock) her agent missed an email for f(s) sake. The International Court of Sports Arbitration certainly thought so as they basically through the WADA case out thus allowing this match to take place. And it's not to difficult to see that there are 2 superstars playing but dam the one in black was good.

Maria, Serena and Venus are the three remaining top champions from the last generation of women’s tennis. I am not surprised any current top ranks get blown away by their talents and experiences. These three emerged and competed within the 2000 - 2010 eras when women’s tennis were in all time high in quality. I haven’t heard any current young No,1s could consistently remain on top and win slams at the same time.

When I watch Maria play other players other than Serena I am amazed at her different style of play. From her confidence, shot selection, service, and aggression is like night and day. Drop shots? She doesn't do drop shots! Slicing the ball then coming to the net? What? No way! Where was all that when she played Serena? I mean, dhr played more drop shots in this one match than all the ones she played against Serena. Always tried to out muscle her instead of out witting her. Things may have been different if she had.

I've seen Maria falling on her knees only when she wins a grand slam and she is doing here too. This explains how much it meant for her. By the way all 5 Grand Slam championship points of Maria follow the same pattern. The opponent makes an error and she falls an her knees. Here too!

Sharapova looked beautiful in that dark outfit, everything very coordinated in her, without stripping the copper and without extravagances, at least she did have a concept of fashion in her outfits. Also, this Sharapova reminded me of Sharapova from years ago, when she was very aggressive, cold and very precise with her game and in fact I thought she would return to that quality, but no, problems with his arm prevented that.
