I'm scared.... what a superb performance....
This is what opera is about..the drama ratcheted up 1000 fold by the music and the performance...Those who criticize Ewing's vocal quality...what the hell does it matter when the performance is as shattering as this...DIVA!!

per Zufall hier entdeckt. Oscarreif gespielt und sehr gut gesungen. Man verzeihe ihr die beiden Patzer zum Schluß.
Riveting. Vocal arguments aside, this ending should be horrifying, and here it is. Ewing manages to ride the music, conveying not only the unravelling mind, but the damaged child within and her confused sexuality. Both touching and terrifying, just as Strauss`s score demands. This was my first live experience of this opera and at a recent performance i felt something lacking. No wonder. btw watch from the beginning on the previous video!

A very different interpretation, traded in some musicality for drama, but I liked it. It's funny though her lips didn't even touch at 3:10 when she sings ich habe deinen MMMMund geküsst

It fits the style. This is not bell canto. This is german post-romantic dramtic opera

Could you be more realistic with your observations??? She avoided that consonant once but the other words are crystal clear.
E' un' interpretazione eccelsa ma sbagliata... Salome era un'adolescente.....
