Marcus Miller - Run For Cover

Музыка

Lessons: roma.terry@gmail.com
I've never really done this song in this manner, feels like a long time coming to finally do it. Marcus Miller has been my #1 influence in my bass playing and obviously as a musician. This is my tribute albeit imperfect.
Shout out to Bass Gear Direct & GRBass - Check out their amps & cabs. Pay a visit to George (if you're in Australia) at his showroom and you'll find some of the best bass gears in the country.

Holy shit this is such a treat. Your MM covers are my favorite, but Run for Cover holds a special place in my heart. I have this video on loop and downloaded it too in case a freak accident causes it to be lost forever. This song was literally the first song that I promised myself I'd master when I picked up the bass. It is a lifetime of inspiration for me. I hit a plateau and am stuck, though. Knowing the notes might be so easy, yet I sound terrible because I can't groove into it effortlessly like you do. Obviously means my note-playing is struggling if I can't "sing" it on the bass. Wish you could share any step by step tips, and also where you got that rockin backing track!

Groove usually happens when your technical ability is sufficient and that you’re not ‘distracted’. When you need to worry about nailing it from technical level, it makes it hard to sort of manipulate rhythm (in terms of playing a bit more laid back, or even on time) or even focusing on phrasing the line (striking certain note harder) which is what this tune is all about. Feel free to book few lessons with me, I’d be best to do that in 1:1 since everyone struggles with different things.
