This was was just magic- Marcus being Marcus and Michael keeping up with obvious respect for the legend - Michael is creating his own legend right now ! Great bass players great musicians!
8:58 WHAT IS THIS GROOVE?? Michael plays it in a Quartermaster performance with Jacob Collier and it stuck in my mind like crazy

Proof we're living in The Greatest Timeline!
Some veyr wise words spoken here..
I think all that Michael League has is respect to Marcus Miller 😅
You can't do one without the other . Good point.
Beautiful people, great vibes and info. thanks. #OdedFriedGaon #OdedMusic #OdedInformation #Audioded
Just Hope the Greats Know how much We Respect Them... \,,/
Marcus foot never stops even when speaking 😂
Wow!
You can why Marcus Miller is MARCUS MILLER and Michael League is an excellent bass player...
Marcus is a genius!!
“self-indulgent bulllllshlt” is how I think Wynton Marsalis describes that nerdy jazz 😂
I sat in on a song with some college kids who were very talented and they were playing jazz but nobody was grooving . I grab the young mans bass and the keyboard player started playing some music with odd meter stuff. I looked at the drummer and said follow me. I played in between the odd time signature to make it 4/4 time. People instantly started grooving. I love jazz but there's nothing wrong with making people dance. They got a lot of tips lol.

he plays Benson quite a bit on his Sirius show 🙂
Listen to modern Merengue music the bassplayers are top notch. Omega el Fuerte s bassplayers.
I wonder what Marcus was tapping his foot to?
The glasses suddenly stopped dropping in the background when the music started
MMA.....mixed musical arts
Stank for no reason ! THEY REEK !
OK I love these guys and I have not gone nearly as far as either of them in many ways but don't y'all think it's funny that after that whole discussion about jazz and harmony they play it ultra safe and lay down a simple one chord vamp and pretty much play inside the blues scale on their solos? I guess it's about keeping your public persona tight and not taking risks.

The time-frame was pretty small. No time for performing the big picture ...

not nervous. just that awkward feeling you get when you get to play with one of your heroes. can't describe it...

@@JTonthedrums Exactly! I had to do a soundcheck (on piano) with Herbie Hancock's Dis' is da Drum band once. When I came off, he said, "Rob, you been holding out on me! I didn't know you could play." All I could say in the moment was: "Hey, I know my place!" 😉.
shut up. Jesus. "Honey, let's go on that talking cruise, you know, the one with the music."
Dutch disease going on in the background...

Marcus can, and he is also a classically trained bass clarinet player.
I do believe that Michael is out of his league here.
