marco van basten had absolutely everything to offer in a striker. he was a brilliant passer, header, his positioning was as good as pele, and he could score great goals with either foot, long range as well as short range. the best in the business.

What a stylish player he was...San Marco, the best striker EVER. Period.

I cannot still believe it....How is it possible to score such a header?!!!

@happyappy21 - I agree with you 100% This has to be the greatest headed goal of all time. I remember seeing it the same night and was left speechless. I have commented on another KZread thread about this goal but I could talk about Marco van Basten all day. The man was perfection. Brilliant in the air, too good feet, pace, power and magnificent goalscoring ability. I read somewhere that in footballing terms he was compared to the great Rudolph Nureyev, such was the grace and panache of his play. Just watching a compilation of his goals leaves me totally agog. The brilliant hat-trick that destroyed England in Euro 88. The unbelievable volley in the Euro 88 final against USSR. Plus the numerous brilliant goals he scored for Milan and Ajax. Simply magnificent. The greatest modern day striker we have ever seen !

Depois da década de1980 pra cá Van Basten foi o melhor centroavante e mais completo .Antes de 1980 só vi jogadores por reprises no KZread, AINDA assim parece que foi o melhor de todos à frente de Ronaldo fenômeno e Uwe Seeler.

You know, I seldom comment on youtube, but I would love to ask a question. Would anyone else agree that this is one of the greatest goals ever seen scored? The sheer audacity to try this from this range, the power he put on it from an incredible body angle (with a cross that had none too much power...): surely it is worlds beyond goals like even that in Euro '88, which had a touch of hopefulness about it (?)- this was pure intent, against Real Madrid, away from home! What do you think?

You are 100% correct. I have commented on this goal so many times but the more I see it the better it gets. Utterly magnificent from one of the greatest players of all time and actually possibly the best out-and-out and complete centre forward in history. Nobody even comes close !

Great comment..true the cross didn't have much power which made it way more difficult.

my apologies about last comment, having looked at a compilation of this guys goals - he was an absolute master of scoring from outrageous angles... can anyone imagine Holland in '74 with a fit Gerry Muhren and Barry Hulshoff, with this guy up front?

Rijsbergergen & Haan were better than Hulshoff, & Neeskens, Jansen , Van Hanegam didn’t need Muhren , Neeskens was 10 times the player Muhren was......

Van Persie goal is beautiful, but this? That's a goal you'd be silent, stand up and start applauding, as if the jester had entertained the King in a fabulously way.

And Fc mobile give him 88 heading😢😢
