“Marcia Reale d’Ordinanza” was composed by Giuseppe Gazette in 1831 as both the Sardinian national anthem and the royal anthem of the House of Savoy. It was the national anthem of the Kingdom of Italy from 1861 to 1943, when Umberto II replaced it with the patriotic song “La Leggenda del Piave.” “Marcia Reale d’Ordinanza” was reinstated in 1944 when the allies captured Rome. It remained the national anthem of Italy until the 1946 Italian institutional referendum, after which the royal march was replaced with the modern Italian anthem, “Il Canto degli Italiani” (Inno di Mameli).
The picture in the video is a painting titled “Il panorama di Torino dalla villa Barbaroux,” by Italian Painter Francesco Gamba (1818-1887).
Lyrics:
Con esso i canti echeggiano
Rullano i tamburi le trombe squillano squillano
Cantici di gloria eleviamo con fervor
Viva l'Italia, l'Italia evviva ! Evviva il Re !
Viva L'Italia, evviva il Re ! Evviva il Re !!!
Viva l'Italia ! Viva il Re ! Viva il Re !
Tutta l'Italia spera in Te, crede in Te,
gloria di nostra stirpe, segnal di libertà,
di libertà, di libertà, di libertà.
Quando i nemici agognino
i nostri campi floridi
dove gli eroi pugnarono
nelle trascorse età,
finché duri l'amor di patria fervido,
finché regni la nostra civiltà.
L'Alpe d'Italia libera,
dal bel parlare angelico,
piede d'odiato barbaro
giammai calpesterà
finché duri l'amor di patria fervido,
finche regni la nostra civiltà.
Come falange unanime
i figli della Patria
si copriran di gloria
gridando libertà.
English Translation:
Long live the King! Long live the King! Long live the King!
Lower, oh Regiments, your Standards to our King!
Italy's Glory and Fortune Lie with Him
Savoy's Grand Soldiers, Cry Out "Long Live the King!"
Lower, oh Regiments, your Standards to our King!
Long live the King! Long live the King! Long live the King!
The trumpets joyously sound
Long live the King! Long live the King! Long live the King!
With this, the cries echo
The drums roll, the trumpets sound and sound again
Canticles of glory we fervently raise
Long Live Italy, Italy, Huzzah! Long Live the King!
Long Live Italy, Long Live the King! Long Live the King!
Long Live Italy, Long Live the King! Long Live the King!
All of Italy puts her faith in you, believes in you,
glory of our race, sign of freedom,
of freedom, of freedom, of freedom.
When the enemy comes seeking
our flourishing fields
where heroes fought
in the bygone ages
as long as our fervent patriotic love lasts
as long as our civilization reigns
The Italian Alps will be free,
angelic speech will reign,
the hated barbarian
will never set foot here
as long as our fervent patriotic love lasts
as long as our civilization reigns
As a single phalanx
the sons of the Fatherland
will cover themselves with glory
shouting "Freedom!”

*1861 Though the house of Savoy did launched this in 1848 (and were the only one to NOT take it back)

The extended name was "Royal fanfare and march of ordinance" because it's made of two jointed themes: - the "Fanfare" at 0.06 (which here is not even full but eh) - the actual "march" at 0.12, which is mandatory, the fanfare could be skipped

Interesting, I have seen it sometimes referred to as "La Fanfara e Marcia Reale d'Ordinanza" as you have said, which I realize is more accurate. It seems that the two themes together are often referred to as just the "Marcia Reale" or the "Fanfara Reale." When I made this I considered doing the full fanfare but decided against it since I was more familiar with performances that don't play it fully. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@ForteRepublicwell, there is always a full official and short practical name. I am sure not even Italians know there is actually this distinction.
