It was 1978, right on the eve of the 80's dance pop revolution, and I remember hearing this on the radio one sleepy summer afternoon in my junior year of high school, and thinking "wow, this is the sound of the future." It's like she was from the year 2023 and just totally captured the 80's New Wave style with a splash of funk and disco. Marci was way ahead of her time. Today it's 1998 and even all these decades later Marci's unmistakable sound still holds up. Truly timeless music.

@@HatsuneMiku18 I'm not sure about that. In Korea and Japan, a genre called city pop in the 80s began to become popular again a few years ago. "Takeuchi Mariya" "plastic love" in Japan and "Kim hyun chul" musicians in Korea have become popular again. Perhaps her music is popular in East Asia because it feels like a more advanced city pop.

Amazing! Just discovered this song via WMNF 88.5 in Tampa, Florida.

I put links up to the Marci videos Terminal and Immaterial Girl on my Facebook page to my 400 friends as a recommendation, and this is what I wrote: "This is off an album I bought this year that I really liked, but it has exponentially grown on me since I got it. It's fun, it's fruity - a very gayish kind of record by an artist who obviously has studied everything that was happening in dance pop music between the years 1978 and 1982. It will transport you back to the start of the 80s. So it is sometimes disco-ish, and sometimes New Wavey, but has a very direct, unproduced sound. It doesn't have the hyperactivity or vocal manipulation or busy layers of a lot of today's pop chart hits. It's just a very fun, chic album. The more you listen, the more of a revelation it will be, especially as a counterpoint to today's overly manic production styles. You'll perhaps be reminded of Blondie, early Madonna, Stacey Q, Olivia Newton John etc. The visual aesthetics of her videos show exactly the time and sound she's emulating, right down to the VHS style production and presenting it in TV aspect ratio; this shows real attention to detail, tipping you off that there's a lot of deep artistry hidden in the glitter. But it's not just an exercise in nostalgia or mimicry; in terms of 2022 it is very FRESH!" Really love this album. In my universe the video count would be 113 million views not 13k! I hope your future releases EXPLODE in the marketplace.
