🎺 Marching bands from East Tyrol: Original Tyrolean brass music

15 brass bands 🎶 from the music districts of Lienzer Talboden, Pustertal-Oberland and Iseltal march up in their typical local costumes. Whether at the weekly square concert, at the parade or on a church festival day - in East Tyrol the tradition is still high. Besides the jagged Tyrolean marching music, waltzes & polkas, as well as hits in rock & pop belong to the repertoire of the music bands.
How did the bands actually come about? Where does the brass music come from? 🤔
Brass music is derived from military music. In the past, this music was often called "war music" or "battle music", as it was originally used to deter the enemy. At the time of Emperor Maximilian I, brass and wood instruments were combined to form brass choirs, which resemble today's brass music. Even percussion instruments were introduced. Due to the Turkish Wars, Turkish percussion instruments such as the bass drum and cymbals were integrated into European brass music. With the introduction of marching in step, the beginning of marching music was made, which at first was only played by pipes and drums. In the 17th century, small brass bands were formed, whose task was to blow signals and make their contribution at various festivals. 🎺

Es ist höchst beeindruckend, was diese doch relativ kleinen Ortschaften für großartige und stark besetzte Kapellen auf die Beine stellen. Da ist anscheinende jede Familie beteiligt, und es gehört wohl zur Familientradition dort mitzumachen. Diese Kultur wird sicher alle Modeströmungen der Unterhaltungs- und Gesellschaftsmusik überdauern und sollte unbedingt weiter gepflegt werden. Ich kann nur neidvoll sagen: Respekt!

Zufällig "entdeckte" ich heute auf you tube heimatliche Musikklänge: einige Musikkapellen aus Osttirol spielen auf! Ich stamme aus Sillian in Osttirol und ich liebe die flotten MÄRSCHE, POLKAS und WALZER der Tiroler MUSIKKAPELLEN. Ich fühle mich meiner Heimat Osttirol sehr verbunden. Ich lebe und wohne in Gutenstein in Niederösterreich.
Ein stolzes Volk, die Tiroler und mit Recht!

So good to see some countries have retained traditions that include all people from their communities, male, female of all groups. So many talented musicians in every township, all in their distinctive dress. Fantastic to have experienced many parades and festivals like this so many years ago. Please maintain your customs, so many countries are loosing theirs. 👍👍🎼🤗👏🇦🇺
Many European Cultures are so wonderful, as I watch this Video I enjoy to see the sharpness of their traditions, their music, so wonderful musicians and as a whole how the community works together to keep with their traditions. I hope this will not go away with so many changes occurring in the world.. When something is worth it shouldn't despair on the contrary it should last for ever. Keep working hard to keep CULTURES ALIVE!!

Je suis en admiration en regardant et entendant ces formations musicales du Tyrol. De la tenue à la prestation c'est vraiment parfait. Si la tradition s'ancre dans le passé , elle agrémente le présent pour le plaisir des yeux et des oreilles. Je constate que la parité entre musiciennes et musiciens tend à se rapprocher de l'équilibre, je ne peux que m'en réjouir , moi qui ai joué, en France, pendant des années dans une formation musicale composée exclusivement d'hommes. Louis , ancien musicien d'une harmonie , en Auvergne. Ich bin in Bewunderung, wenn ich diese musikalischen Formationen aus Tirol beobachte und höre. Vom Outfit bis zur Aufführung ist es wirklich perfekt. Wenn die Tradition in der Vergangenheit verwurzelt ist, bereichert sie die Gegenwart für den Genuss von Augen und Ohren. Ich stelle fest, daß die Parität zwischen Musikerinnen und Musikern dazu neigt, sich dem Gleichgewicht anzunähern, ich kann mich nur darüber freuen, daß ich in Frankreich jahrelang in einer ausschließlich aus Männern bestehenden musikalischen Ausbildung gespielt habe. Gotta love it. Beautiful girls carrying little bier casks along to refresh the musikers! Ja wohl! That is just too cool. And you spot the oldest and most been-round players because they got the funkiest hats!

no, they arn t for the musicants, that is to sell for guests in the audience, the money comes as a benefit for the band! they content not beer, but Schnaps, buddy, for beer they are to small!

Ive been there in 1991 and 1992 and than travelled throu Califirnia, remember a nice time, also throu Arizona, the Grand Canyon, Prescott and Phoenix! Actually I prefer before Slivovitz Baraz Palinka from Hungary tasts better! - I answered Budster and didnt expect an answer from you unkwown guy!

martin haimböck da muss ich dir jetzt widersprechen: ihr seid eines der schönsten Länder überhaupt, da kommt’s nicht auf die Größe an. In Sachen Blaskapellen könnt ihr nicht nur ganz vorne mitmischen, denn da seid ihr mit Abstand die Führendsten. Und was du noch vergessen hast: in Sachen Freundlichkeit und Gastfreundschaft seid ihr ebenfalls unschlagbar. In diesem Sinne viele liebe Grüße aus Bayern in das Land, zu dem es mich seit jeher immer wieder hinzieht 🦢
