He had no formal training. I find it amazing he learned to sing credibly with multiple techniques and resonances, and in multiple languages purely by ear. Non aveva una formazione formale. Quello che mi ha colpito di piu non è tanto la sua abilità di cambiare vocalità dal maschile al femminile rapidamente e in maniera convincente, difficile per uno che è un baritono. Quanto per il fatto che quando cantava la parte di Bocelli lo faceva in stile lirico e la parte di Dion in stile pop music. Inoltre cantava la parte di Bocelli in Italiano (una lingua che non conosce per niente) e la parte di Dion in Inglese che ne sa poco, infatti la moglie va sempre con lui all’estero per tradurre. Infine lo faceva da seduto in un bus con poco spazio e la camera piantata vicino alla sua faccia. Tutte queste cose che pochissimi al mondo sapevano o lo hanno fatto notare. È una performance straordinaria considerando tutte queste difficoltà, e vanno dette al pubblico che ascolta queste reactions.

In the end he had been teased by the producers about his high voice & was spitting it out.

Giacomo, there is an 11 member (5 women, 6 men) A Cappella ensemble called "Voctave" to which I think you would enjoy reacting. Although Voctave has numerous KZread videos, I recommend that you start with their "Disney Princess Medley" (2017) and then "Disney Love Medley" (late 2015). Note: The "Disney Love Medley" was recorded when Voctave had only 8 members. It features Kirstin Maldonado of Pentatonics fame and Jeremy Michael Lewis of the Acousticats. Era sconosciuto anche a me! So davvero poco di lui, ascolterò sicuramente altre sue esibizioni per capire anche un po' la sua vera essenza, al di là dell'esibizione tecnica magistrale che ha proposto qui cantando sia le parti di Bocelli che di Dion. Credo che un cantante con una voce così abbia molto di più da dire che semplicemente imitare!

I am not sure if you are aware of his life story. He learned to sing while homeless after his parents gave him up. There is a short version online,, I believe it is the global version of the "got talent" show

Mi piace molto la tua reaction e il tuo commento di tecnica vocale dettagliata. Per quel che so, Marcelito non ha studiato niente di scuola musica propia o formale. Ha imparato a cantare cosi da solo. Credo che ti piacerebbe vedere anche lui cantado la canzone classica Con Ti Partiro' nell'America Got Talent The Champions.

Seguo Marcelito Pomoy da anni e va precisato che è un autodidatta e ha avuto un'infanzia terribile !!! Tutti all'estero concordano, sulla base di altre sue stupefacenti performances, che non è un 'imitatore' ma un professionista, serio e modesto nonostante il suo successo. Anche quando si riesce a 'catturare' il timbro di un altro cantante (e lo si fa quindi proprio, manipolandolo, in occasioni diverse) direi sia un merito e non una curiosità circense. Prima di esprimere giudizi trancianti come fa l'ascoltatrice Luisa Salerni (qui sotto a me) bisognerebbe saperne un po' di più su un artista e magari aver avuto la possibilità di ascoltare altre sue performances. Dalla voce femminile unica di "The power of love" (cover di Celine Dion) al duetto con Morissette Amon in una nuova versione di "Secret love" e tanto tanto altro ...

Ti terrò al corrente. Più che interessante la performance (America Got Talent) di "Time to say goodbye" (Sarah Brightman - Andrea Bocelli); quella di "My heart will go on" (Celine Dion: film "Titanic" (2 versioni)) e quella di un giovane Marcelito che canta "Narito Ako" (cover di Regine Velasquez). Marcelito canta in cinese, inglese, italiano, spagnolo ("Despasito" in varie versione), e un po' in francese. 🤓🧐😲

Your comment could mislead as there are numerous cartoon versions of "The Magic Sword" starting as far back as 1962. The Prayer was composed for "The Quest for Camelot" in 1998.

no, he won the philippinian version ! when he was on AGT, they modified the backstory, edited the performance, edited the show, switched the sequence of performances and lied to justify not goving him the golden buzzer, copied a scene from the finals and inserted it into the semifinals (which were preproduced many months before broadcasting, and yet they asked viewers to wish him luck for the finals), and simon who is an executive producer of that show said that he was "surprised" by the bad choice of songs although singers can only select a song from a short list that is given to them by the producers. also: where in the world is someone allowed to be a judge (at a court, at a competition, wherever) when he is personally involved and has a specific interest in the outcome? btw: also Dimash was lied to when he was on such an american contest. and when he found out that he would compete against children and retreated from the contest he was insulted by some judge and told that he should be more grateful for "that great opportunity to participate". therefore i avoid viewing any such american competitions as far as possible (when other versions of the same song are available, that often even are also uncut, unedited, in better quality, and with no problems as described above)

É bravissimo😅. Poi riesce a fare lo stesso timbro sia di Céline che di Bocelli e mantenere un ottimo controllo nei salti veloci. Ma il timbro si puó modificare come? Credevo che il timbro fosse determinato dalla conformazione fisica ma come fanno, per esempio, gli imitatori? Accorciano le corde vocali, allargano la gola? 😆

Domanda interessante! Il timbro di per sè è dato dalla conformazione delle corde vocali e del tratto vocale. La cosa bella (e affascinante) della voce è che può essere modificata, dato che le il tratto vocale può essere modificato in vari modi (altezza della laringe, altezza del palato, posizione della lingua, del mento e della mandibola, e anche le stesse corde vocali possono essere allungate o accorciate, possono vibrare a massa più spessa o a massa più sottile, ecc....)

Marcelito Pomoy ha cantato anche con te partirò di Bocelli ma con la voce da donna e ha cantato anche Power of love

Direi che Marcelito Pomoy è più un imitatore che un cantante. Diciamlo un cantante-imitatore…Anni fa, quando ho visto questo stesso video, l’ho trovato divertente e spettacolare, e sono rimasta sorpresa dal fatto che imitava meglio la voce di Céline Dion che quella di Andrea Bocelli 😂

Che differenza tecnica c'è tra Marcelito in questa canzone e Dimash in Olimpico? (non chi è il migliore tecnicamente ma quali differenze di impostazione ci sono.)

Grazie Silvana, ho visto che anche altri la pensano così! Sinceramente non sono ancora in grado di giudicare questo perchè lo conosco troppo poco, dovrei prima ascoltare altre sue esibizioni! Tecnicamente è bravissimo e fa delle cose impressionanti, e su questo non si può dire nulla :) mi piacerebbe sentire altrove per capire un po' la sua vera "essenza"

Marcelito grew up on the streets since age 7. He had no resources for formal training. He learned everything by ear...yes, imitating. He also learned Italian and English by imitation too. He had no formal schooling either. Imitating two of the most famous vocalists in the world with two different styles in two different languages to this degree is by no means easy. Not sure why this is a criticism. It's not like he has music-writer lined up to write original songs for him. I was teary-eyed when I heard him sing for the 1st time because of the BEAUTY of his voice. I feel sorry for anyone who can't feel anything.

Só não gosto muito porque ele só imita as vozes. Gostaria de ouvi-lo cantando uma música própria, usando sua voz versátil para criar coisas novas e interpretar a seu modo. Falta expressão.
