Marc Maron was one of the few young comedians on Bill Hicks’ list of top greats, and he's always been one of my favorites. Comparable to Jon Stewart but with a darker, self-deprecating, and brutally honest style, Marc's comedy is truly unique.
In 2006, after moving from Austin to LA to finish “American Drug War,” I crossed paths with Marc Maron and was blown away by his new material. Marc was incredibly gracious and allowed me to film his set at the LA Improv for the old Sacred Cow website. This rare footage captures Marc at a pivotal time in his career, showcasing his raw and unfiltered comedic talent.

I actually found Marc Maron before I found bill hicks. I remember around 99-2000 I saw his special and had previously seen Maron on Dr. Katz and when I got into Tool in 2001 I discovered Bill Hicks. When I got into Marc he was my guy! Then it was Bill later, but I have followed Marc this whole time too. Both are great in their own way and both great guitarists! Marc Maron was an early adopter of the internet for marketing and actually used to talk to his fans on his own marcmaron's website and I remember being about 16 or 17 and chatting on his forums. good times.
