I STARTED learning things about the the brutal dimensions of slavery in the U.S. and the whole world, the holocausts and other atrocities visited upon all people black, white, Asian, Hispanic etc when I was about 10 years old. It sparked an interest in history in general of which I found the very good of human history and the very worst of mankind. I processed it rationally and maintained a great optimism for the future. Never did any of this enlightenment cause me to project negatively on all the different types of people throughout my life without reasonable cause. We can not move forward catering to people conflicted personal defensiveness because they're conflicted about honoring their ancestors who may have not have been 'the better angels' of our nature. Seek therapy for personal issues but let the children at an appropriate age learn factual truth. Thank you.

While the question “what is CRT” ( posed to the professing opponent of CRT ) is useful in keeping critics honest to how they label what theyre critiquing, it usually doesn’t seem to go farther than that. CRT is obviously an overused and misused buzzword now, but what should be discussed more so is the substance of whatever is being mischaracterized as CRT. See if the issue is truly problematic, work towards non problematic alternatives, and settle on some solutions that have more causal power towards change than a gotcha moment. Everyone isn’t worth this time, admittedly, but it also can’t be the case that everyone that’s in disagreement, or even confusion, have no legitimate gripes.

Yes, CRT is code for all the uncomfortable facts of history white folks can't face and don't want anyone learning about in school. The irony for me is almost everything I know about Black American history I learned outside of school. The one American history class I took in college was taught by a man who said slavery couldn't have been that bad, because Black folks survived it.
