The Tengen genesis port is arcade perfect and has pretty good controls
It still amazes me how many versions got the basic melody _wrong_ .
9:09 GBA is my favorite.

I can see why you say that, I do quite like the drums that were added
GBA has the right energy to be honest. It brings it up to pace to the game itself so I love it.
The 16-bit renditions are fine, but I think that certain 8-bit versions just capture the vibe more.

NES version in particular imo. (No idea why I put GB above it) :P

@@TheTomatoWatcher They're both very good, but they're both about the same. The only major difference between them is the baseline. The GB's is in stereo, whereas the NES is mono & uses a different synth, I think.
My favorites are C64 and Apple ][
Marble Madness 2 recently got a soundtrack rip, and it appears that the practice race theme from that game remixes the beginner race from this game. Where would you put that remix on this list? You can find the remix here, BTW, just skip to 22 seconds in... kzread.info/dash/bejne/hGqY08aDmauapNY.html

I think it would rank just above the FM town arranged version.

I would rank it as the best version of that track. Better than the first arcade game
Oh wow...the buzzing in Apple IIGS....

Yeah :/ I'm pretty sure that's an emulation thing, and there wasn't much I could do about it since IIGS emulators are pretty scarce.

@@TheTomatoWatcher Okay, that's understandable.

From various sources, including myself for basically all of the really bad versions :P
Oof. Fm towns marty obviously has the edge over the rest here

I mean, it sounds nice and rich, but I find the extra embellishments a little obnoxious :/

@@TheTomatoWatcher understandable. I feel like it adds to the quirky late 80s early 90s-ness of it

@@TheTomatoWatcher That's how I feel about most CD arrangements of the time tbh
The atari saturn version is actually kinda good

You mean the Atari ST? Because that definitely isn't what ST stands for :P (It stands for Sixteen/Thirty-two)
not the actual gbc theme, if u used it it would be right at the worst
Amiga is one of the worst to me, even if technically more advanced than some prior

Thats a fair opinion to have. The Amiga soundtrack is incredibly lazy; I'll give you that. It literally uses 1, maaaybe 2, instruments, which are just repeating waveforms with volume envelopes. I put it as high as it is here because it keeps all the harmony from the original, and it at least sounds kinda pleasant, if a bit dull.

@@TheTomatoWatcher Right, considering what can be done on amiga it's just lacklustre!
The Java version is an insult to MIDI files everywhere. What an ugly sound!

Agreed. Textbook "bad" MIDI music.
