MARATHON TRAINING | Dropping out of the race

Welcome or welcome back. This is not a video I wanted to be sharing and was quite difficult to edit, but I wanted to show the full story of this injury and its progression. I'm heartbroken, but can't wait to be back. Appreciate all the love and support so much! Stay tuned for my swimming era :)

Oh my gosh girl I had the same exact situation.. after an 18 mile run, I had a pelvic stress fracture and had to swim… make the most of it and have a lot of fun in spin bike classes with loud music.. swimming is so so fun! Keep on routine. You will be back to running before you know it!

Very smart to back off this one particular race and keep your long-term health to race another day! It's so emotionally difficult to let go of goal, but your cross training will set you up to get back stronger than ever! Keep pushing!

I’m so sorry Vicky 😢. Stress fractures are so painful and so awful. I was a professional figure skater for a long time and ended up with stress fractures in both my legs from a poor fitting pair of skating boots. My boots were so stiff and would t break in and they ended up bending my blades which meant as I jumped and landed my shins were taking way more impact than they should have. I ended up catching them early but I had been in a lot of pain and couldn’t jump for several weeks. It was frustrating that it was nothing I did myself but due to equipment failure really. Things happen sometimes even when we are at our healthiest. I have a feeling you’ll be back stronger than ever once you’re fully healed. Sending you all the good vibes from a figure skater who has retired from skating professionally but who has healed and is still skating quite often. ❤

I’m so sorry! As someone who also got injured when they were feeling their best and had to stop running, I’m right there with you. Sending you love, strength, and all the healing vibes

I know the feeling, i'm injured too and watching everyone else running is so hard! Injuries are so much harder mentally than physically! Wishing you a speedy recovery and hope the rehab process goes well

That PT does sound pretty good. They helped prevent a bad situation from getting worse. If I were in your shoes, I would feel obliged to give them a good review. As encouraging as it has been to see you progress as a marathoner and despite not having new running vids for a while (peloton bike + iOS17 update?), I think this video has been most helpful to me personally as someone seriously training for their first half marathon. My takeaway is to be ready to let go or adapt my goals even if I do everything right and put in the work since life can throw you curve-balls. Also to have insurance. Looking forward to London!

Sorry that you are injured, I currently have a foot fracture. I have found skierg, rowing, cycling to be comparable to running to get the heart rate up! Stairmaster/ stair stepper can as well! All the best!

Sounds exactly like what happened to me before Chicago last year. So many misdiagnoses and telling me the severe pain I was feeling wasn’t “that bad”. I was diagnosed with a pubic rami stress fracture which is so random. I came back strong though and I know you will too 🫶💪

ok I commented this earlier on, and I can’t believe we had the same injury. I had the exact same emotions and reaction as you. And it was awful. And I’m so proud of where you are now. It f***ing sucks. You got this.
