just saw this vid excellent ,never liked marantz cause they charge way too much for their turntables that they do not make I see a lot of the marantz brand for sale asking for high price like they were new but they were made by cec which to me made great TT's I recntly bought a realistic 440 this thing was really made well I grew up believing that radio shack brands were low quality and would turn my nose at them WHAT!!! a doofus I was the marantz reminded me of the realistic400 it look like same build same partical board body they were very good my 440 was direct drive I paid like 140.00 cover was badly scratched and hinges were broken but it started up really well ,I gave to a fellow worker whose turntable was broken but was tight on money so I gave it to him I knew how it felt to struggle with new job trying to make ends meet ,I miss it still found several for sale but a little beat up badly ,been watching a lot of your vids between you and 12volts guy I think I misspelled it wrong I would like to know how did you get your knowledge of fixing TT's ,I have gotten through watching your vids several turntables I am more into the mechanical type like I have 3 Duals ,1237,1246,and 1009sk and 2 Garrard AT-60 and a autoslim MPK2 I have a 1985 original owner onkyo cp-10055F II integra quartz locked TT the motor that drives the tone arm has a gear that is broken I am scared to try to fix it but was wanting to know is it something if you were me would try to repair ,I don't want to make it worse is that how you learned your trade by trying and going for it ,I have seen you fix problems on turntables that leave scratching my head how does he do it ,I figure if I keep watching your vids I can get the courage to try to tackle my onkyo,trying to catch up on ypour other vids thanks for your channel it is very helpfull JRo

Sometimes placing two small teaspoons 180 degrees opposite each other under the pulley will really help in lifting it up and off the spindle/ axle. Be aware of where they are sitting so they don't smash anything that is underneath them. Again, thanks for sharing all of your expertise. It's helpful in a general sense when approaching any turntable. Cheers!

People would still ask $1000 just because it says Marantz. Hilarious. If you get a smaller flat head screwdriver, engage the eclip and use the post as a lever and twist the screwdriver ccw and it will release. Trick is a long handle small tip screwdriver.

I've taken belts before and put them in hot water to make them tight again! I'm sure you heard of that method!

Yes, I've boiled many a belt, but this one is far too loose.

Wondering how the purchaser would have known to disassemble the platter to remove transport screws if retailer didn't say anything and if the manual wasn't read. Good catch!! (the huge magnate comment did catch me off-guard -- haha)

You probably should distinguish between silicone grease and silicone damping fluid, as they are not the same. On measuring speed. 7 dots per minute equals 0.1% speed error.

Really enjoying your videos they’ve helped me repair my turntables - what kind of grease do you use on plastic sliding parts I’ve heard the white lithium can decay plastic

I just use a general purpose synthetic grease.

I have a Marantz CD6006 and the tray will not open or close w/o help. I just want to kniw where I can get it fixed. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Title says Complete servicing. Any chance of a a video on return arm issues. Having problems with setting return arm to go at correct times and motor turning off . The micro switch only goes to correct position every other time. Admittedly I am not well versed in working on turntables. Received this turntable part of my inheritance from mom. Was hoping for some guidance but can not find any.

I'm having the same issue with a 6110. Cant figure out how to get it to work, the up/down cue lever does nothing. I have to spin the table manually until I hear a click, then it will play the record. The return lever also does nothing. I've taken the parts off and put back on but it didnt change anything. I'm new to all of this, have no idea what I'm doing.

I have a LULU MONDE brand record player but I can't find its needle, can you help me?

Can the remnants of the fossilized belt be removed?

Fine tip Shures tend to track much lighter than 2 grams (like the V series). Most of the conicals and duller-tip ellipticals track at 2.

You gotta be careful which type of gearbox oil you're using! Stick with a GL-4 75w90, do not use GL-5 it's not suitable for yellow metal. Which GL range do Rega suggest? And it is alright to use grease especially at the bottom small pea like quantity and always use graphite grease it's a soft grease it won't dry out and use the oil on the shaft.

Hybrid GL4/GL5 gear oils are safe for yellow metals. So are most synthetics. It's the mineral GL5 oils that contain sulfur that could cause corrosion.

@@ElectoneGuy yes but they do advise about not using GL-5 / GL-4 mix so why not just stick with GL-4 it's meant for yellow materials best to be safe.
