Regarding the 60Hz spike in the graphs, clearly I forgot that I am in North America when I wondered where that spike was coming from! I will note that both tests were run with the bottom cover off and that this was a mistake since the bottom cover plays a role in creating a proper ground in the receiver. I re-ran the test with the bottom and top covers installed, but the results were almost the same as those shown in the video. I was about to re-edit and re-upload, but I'm going to leave this video as-is since there wasn't much of a difference between no cover and cover.

In a pinch you can use two regular electrolytic , join them the negatives together to create a NP. From memory you need 2 X 10 uf electrolytic to make one NP 10 uf. Thanks for all the videos, it reminded me that my 2275 needs some TLC.

Good morning!, excellent work. I have successfully replaced the BA312s on my Marantz 2275 with the SparkosLab ones. But I also have a Sansui 881 which uses 4 BA312's and I want to change them too but there are no instructions for that kit. You know how to do it? Thank you

Hey just bought this kit. Quick question on install, I have a 2265 when removing CE9 and10 my current caps are rated at 100uf 10v does it matter that the kit says to replace with their 47uf caps. This is pretty far off in capacitance does that not matter? CE14

It adds that extra bit of clarity to the sound. I hear what others have described hearing on the forums and would recommend the product to anyone using high end speakers where you'd notice a difference. You can hear the end result in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fHyDqMyCe5rZo9o.html

How would the phono stage sound if you re did the cap/resistors with new one instead of the sparko product. Would it achieve more of the original sound with more of the original specs?

I had a question on the Marantz 2250B which I also have. I am thinking of adding an equalizer to my system which consists of a cd player and turntable all connected to the Marantz directly to phono and aux. If I were to get a equalizer where would I connect that in the chain. Thanks always for your videos. Dave

You'd run the Marantz pre out to the equalizer line in, then equalizer line out to the Marantz main in.

Hello, I'm really enjoying your videos, and your style - really well done. Have to say, though, that I'm really wondering why you're not taking the extra few minutes and cleaning all of the buildup dirt, dust and crud off of the boards as you replace the components? Your component installation looks generally pretty beautiful, but after you're done, the boards themselves still look filthy and terrible. Does it matter for performance? Probably not, but doesn't it bother you that the boards could look as beautiful and pristine as the new components?

If this work were being performed on someone else's unit it would be a different story, but the 2250B in these videos was rough when I got it and I have no intent of selling. So for my personal gear, if it's really dirty, I'll use compressed air to get the big stuff out, but if it's "not that bad" I'm not about to spend the extra time cleaning the inside because if you're looking inside a receiver as you enjoy it, well, you're doing it wrong :) No change in performance clean vs dirty except for moving parts. It's like with auto mechanics. Most of them drive run-down beat-up old cars that they never wash. That's how I am with my gear. I care that it works above all else and don't fuss over visual imperfections.

My 2250B had a 60 Hz hum which disappeared after I installed the bottom cover. Maybe that’s the cause of the 60 Hz spike on the graph.

I had the exact same thought as I was watching after publishing because I did indeed have the bottom cover off for both tests. In fact, in videos prior to this, you can hear the 60hz hum coming from the speakers at zero volume when I'm checking for sound. I'm re-running the test now with the cover attached and the 60hz spike is still there. I checked with good headphones, though, and I can't hear a dang thing. Hum is gone from speakers as well. Everything sounds great and appears to be working well, and honestly, that's all I truly care about!

@@AHFixIt good work on your upgrade. I wonder if a choke on the power cord would help. Maybe do 3 or 4 loops on the power cord and try that? Fun to watch you work

200$ for a marginal improvement. I wouldn' call this an "upgrade". I like the video though. Thanks for showing the test results.the proof is in the pudding.

It’s a massive upgrade as now the pre amps are Class A, and it’s all about the result on the sound I’ve used them in a Neve console and the before and after is the same as the most expensive Neve pre amp money can buy, because of the class A aspect to the sparkos design, many other discreets aren’t class A throughout

I agree with the modern electrolytics but I have found it does overall effect the audio in a negative way. There is something about the sound produced in the Marantz 22xx, 22xxb, 23xx and the 40xx in the original electronics that we lose with the upgraded circuits. It's in the ear not the analyser.
