2 நாளைக்கு முன்னாடி ooty சென்றோம்.. கோத்தகிரி வழியில் ஏறினோம்.. போகும் போது பெரிதாக வண்டிகள் இல்லை... ஆகையால் புதிதாக ஏறுபவர்கள் இந்த வழியை பயன்படுத்தலாம்... திரும்பி வரும்போது conoor வழியாக வந்தோம்... பல வண்டிகள் பொறுமையே இல்லாமல் ஓட்டினார்கள்.. குறிப்பாக வளைவுகளில் overtake எடுக்க முயற்சித்து பல வண்டிகளிடம் வசை வாங்கி பல பேர் சென்றனர்... கொடுமை என்னவென்றால் ஒரு பெரிய tourist வண்டியை overtake எடுத்தே ஆக வேண்டும் என்று 4 5 வண்டிகள் மிகவும் மோசமாக வண்டி ஓட்டினர்... நல்ல வேளை யாருக்கு எதுவும் ஆகவில்லை....

I have touched this road thrice to reach ooty from Masinagudi… all the time this road is haunting if you don’t have confident in your car. Unless the car performs well in hills and pulls flawlessly with super good breaks please take else don’t risk yourself. Last time i went in my Jazz but i didn’t have confidence to take him up hill therefore i took the long route. Stay safe.

சார் 20 வருடங்கள் முன்பு நான் என்னுடைய Matiz காரில் இந்த வழியில் நான் ஒட்டும் போது Coolant tube burst ஆகி வண்டி நின்று விட்டது. ஒரு மணிநேரம் கழித்து ஒரு ஜீப் tow பன்னி மேல் கொண்டு சென்றார்கள். வழகையில் மறக்க முடியாத சம்பவம்.

I’ve driven my Honda City from Mysore-masinagudi-kalhatti-ooty route. Such a scenic and thrilling route indeed. One who enjoys driving must drive on this roads. Perfectly safe to go uphill to ooty . The most steepest roads and hairpin bends I’ve ever experienced. Would drive there again for sure. It’s not that scary like these media people show but it’s thrilling indeed.

Last year I used this route from Mysore to Ooty via kalhatty in my grand i10 to climb the hills. No fear you drive using proper gears. I used only 1st and 2nd gears for uphill driving with four adults and with full luggage. I reached thala kunda in 40 minutes. Easy to reach Ooty in a short time but you need to be more careful in hairpin bends with downhill vehicles. In my view kolli hills with 70 hairpin bend road is more risky compared to kalhatty road.

When you are climbing uphit is not a problem but while you are downhilling it is not a Easy road. Prior accident records may prove it

Miss this route badly becoz of restrictions. I have been in this road many times since 2007 in Tata sumo, contessa, honda city, swift, Rx100, pulsar 220 and Roadking.

I travelled to this route with my Celerio with full family members myself self-driving and my wife and two kids aged 10 and 9 yrs.As you rightly pointed out sir with my faulty driving my vehicle got break failed due to overheating of discs, my vehicle and another vehicle stopped at the checkpost and advised to cool the break pad and after passing one hour at the checkpost the forester advised to run the vehicle with proper gear that is 1st and 2nd gear only with his advise i driven the vehicle with cautious to reach the final destination Massinagudi.While returning there is no issue at all,.Thanks to the forest guard who advised me at right time and😊 right place.So take care while driving in the hilly area.This incidence taken place two years back 2022 March

நாங்கள் September 23 மாதம் இந்த ரோட்டில் முதுமலை வனவிலங்கு சரணாலயம் இருந்து மசினகுடி வழியாக மலை ஏறி தல குந்தா கடவுள் கிருபையால் பாதுகாப்பாக வந்து சேர்ந்தோம் (Self driving). நானும் மனைவியும் மட்டுமே. வண்டி Brezza, 1st & 2nd gear ல் மட்டுமே மிகவும் திணறியது. நிறைய hair pin bed. Very steep slope. மலை ஏறும்போது வண்டி நின்றால் மிகவும் சிரமப்பட்டு ஏறியது. சில இடங்களில் ரோட்டில் மிகவும் அருகில் யானை மற்றும் காட்டு மாடு நின்றன. Most unsafe road to climbing also. Better avoid this route. THRILL KILLS.

Drew February 2024 from mysore, Masinagudi - kalhatty - Ooty, My driving experience is morethan 3 lakh kilometers and 25 years. Drew my Ciaz 4 years old amazing experience never traveled such steep with U Turn Road, enjoyed, every driver should experience it, It will difficult for inexperience drivers. There are vehicles breakdown since can't withstand such steep roads, saw Ritz, I 10, Magnite, recovery vans stationed middle of the hill to help. Enjoyed hot Tea and Varkey near 24th bend. Wonderful experience, My Ooty trip from chennai is Just to explore that kalhatty road, since traveled to mysore stayed overnight started next day morning to Ooty via kalhatty. Sema experience. Forgot to mention Most of the time in First Gear and second gear.

I also drove through this road with my family. That experience was fabulous and it didn't give me any discomfort, now only many of them are speaking about this place weirdly

I'm from Kerala. I was living in Coonoor for long term. So I was allowed to travel by this route by showing my Aadhaar card and residential address. It's really a dangerous road. Take maximum care and try to drive only in second gear.

It is not a dangerous road. TNSTC buses are running safely.Following road rules and signals driving is very nice.

Gear இல் தான் இரங்கனும், அது மட்டுமல்ல brake ஐ ரொம்பவும் apply pannakudathu....gear இல் தான் இரங்கணும்.....இரண்டும் சமமாக apply செய்ய வேண்டும்.....maximum gear இல் இறங்குவது சரி.....

usage of engine breaking, clutch handling and RPM matching is very important, and it should happen with flow. Heard of dangers roads , near Ooty and Masanakudi and other locations are in Hosur, and in a different remote location, where road is at 45 degree angle.

Hi anna. All you said about this route is true. I am basically brought up in ooty and learned this route through my father. Had a couple of experiences driving through this route. Last time o travelled through this route with my wife. The road was blocked for outstation vehicles but got police recommendation to go through it. As you said newbie drivers are not recommended to drive through this route. Only experience drivers in hill stations.

I have travelled several times. Really challanging ghat section. Sure it is not for beginners. Atmost care needed for driving in this line. Reckless driving is the cause. Even nanga mid night la dhan maximum povom, apo ivalov strict illa, andha check post la dhan stop pannuvanga, edhavadhu solli dhan poganum, but very risky road. Better avoid. there is danger...but not so much if careful. tatasumo is good on this road. driven this road from 2004 till now. but this is nothing when compared to Uttarakhand hill roads,especially from Sonprayag to Chopta ,tunganath and Gopeshwar. if you want thrill of driving in hills, please go to Uttarakhand. you will need " hill driving endorsement" to your DL here. No night driving allowed there.

as he said rly our sacred driver holding on brakes alway and at a deep slope just next to the 'no of death NH warning board' our car brakes failed with smoke underhood...for gods sake with no vehicle upward at tht time we managed to stop....really dangerous road not advisable to travl😶‍🌫

Breaks பயன்படுத்தாமல் automatic காரில் மலையிலிருந்து கீழே ஓட்டுவது எப்படி என்று எனக்கு ஆச்சரியமாக இருக்கிறது?
