P. Padmarajan (23 May 1945 - 24 January 1991) was an Indian film maker, screenwriter and author who was known for his landmark work in Malayalam literature and Malayalam cinema. Padmarajan was the founder of a new school of film making in Malayalam cinema, along with Bharathan and K. G. George, in the 1980s, which created groundbreaking films that were widely received while also being critically acclaimed.Known for his classic works, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest film makers of Malayalam Cinema of all time.
Padmarajan was noted for his fine and detailed screenwriting and expressive direction style. Padmarajan made some of the landmark motion pictures in Malayalam cinema, including masterpieces like Peruvazhiyambalam(1979),Oridathoru Phayalvaan (1981),Kallan pavithran(1981), Koodevide (1983), Thinkalaazhcha Nalla Divasam(1985), Arappatta Kettiya Gramathil (1986), Namukku Parkkan Munthiri Thoppukal (1986), Thoovanathumbikal (1987), Moonnam Pakkam (1988), Innale (1989), Season (1989) and Njan Gandharvan (1991).He wrote several short stories which were unique in content and presentation.His novels handled the darkest emotions and considered as Classics.Most plots were nascent for that age literature.All works were so cinematic and Can be easily visualized to celluloid version.
Padmarajan was born on 23 May 1945 in Muthukulam near Haripad in Alappuzha., which was then under the princely state of Travancore. He was the sixth son of Thundathil Anantha Padmanabha Pillai and Njavarakkal Devaki Amma. After early schooling at Muthukulam, he studied at M. G. College and University College Trivandrum, graduating with a B.Sc. in chemistry (1963). Subsequently, he learned Sanskrit from the scholar Cheppad Achyutha Warrier at Muthukulam. He then joined All India Radio, Trichur (1965), starting as a programme announcer, and later settled at Poojappura, Trivandrum (1968); he would remain at All India Radio until 1986 when his involvement in films prompted him to retire voluntarily.

സുഹൃത്തേ. മരണം തന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഉണ്ടെന്നു അദ്ദേഹം തന്നെ പലരോടും പറഞ്ഞ കാര്യമാണ്. അതിൽ മോശമായ ഒന്നുമില്ല. ചേച്ചിയും അതുതന്നെയാണ് പറയുന്നത് . അത് മാറ്റി പറയുന്നത് ശരിയാണോ

Touching chechy.While I was working as a medical rep.in Kottayam,I met him and took me to prakat buildings , where the shooting of kanamarayath.He spend the night hours with me.He asked me,which novel or story I liked too much.I am the first man who told him about'Udakappola". My son's name is Jayakrishnan and my daughter s name is Madhavikutty.Iam touching your feet chechy as I did to my evertime favourite writer long before.After that Hari became my friend and I came to javarakkal house ,and I saw Thakara also on one of his memory day.Thanks for sharing sir's great memories.

ശരിയാണ് പ്രസവംപോലെ തനെയാണ് എഴുത്ത് ഉള്ളിൽ നിന്ന് ശക്തമായി പുറത്തേക്ക് തള്ളേണ്ടതുണ്ട് അതെല്ലാം തൂലിക തുസ ബിലു ടെ പുറത്തേക്ക് വനാൽ വല്ലാത്ത ഒരു സംത്യപ്ത്തിയായിരിക്കും പലരുടെയും ജീവിതവും അനുഭവവും വ്യത്യസ്തത മായിരിക്കും അതു പോലെയിരിക്കും എഴുത്തും എല്ലാം ഒരുദൈവ നിയോഗവും

I know Radha lakshmi since my childhood. We r like family friends. Actually we call her pet name Thanka kutty. I m also from Chittu Palght Once in a week I used to go to her Ambat House. Her father n mother gave me so.much affection. Myself n wife met her at Trivandrum Poojappura house 12 yrs ago. It was very sad that Mr. Padmarajan told everybody goodbye. I pray God to give good health to her family. If possible, u can tell Thankakutty (Mrs.Padmarajan my regards to her. I am Jayabalan aged 77.

പത്മരാജനെ പോലെ ആ കാലത്ത് കേരള ജനത നെഞ്ചിലേറ്റിയ വേറെ ഒരു ചലചിത്രകാരൻ ഉണ്ടാകും എന്ന് തോന്നുന്നില്ല. പത്മരാജൻ - ഭരതൻ കൂട്ടുകെട്ടിൽ ആ കാലത്ത് ഇറങ്ങിയ സിനിമകൾ മലയാള സിനിമ ഉള്ള കാലത്തോളം വേറിട്ട് തന്നെ നിലനിൽക്കും

Because of the hardships through which these great people travelled, Malayalam films were really rich. What about now? What and all is shown in the so-called films..the camera reached the toilets, showing people doing number two... So in the near future we can expect much more..olden times songs even now also who can forget 60s 70s songs. Full of meaning.. And that special ,,very special voice... We can pick the words... Now some fox kooval... What words what meaning.. After a week the song dies... Malayalam cinema is breathing her last. A slow and painful death...
