MAR MOUSSA_MOUNT LEBANON

Mar Moussa is a village in the Matn district of Mount Lebanon located 25 km from Beirut at 950 meters above sea level. In the 1750s, a group of Lebanese monks built the Mar Moussa Monastery on the remains of an ancient Roman sanctuary. Later, migrant families from Byblos and Bikfaya settled in the area and farmed the monastery lands as church employees. The most notable monuments of the village are the monastery and the windmill.
