You are of course correct. Africa: 30.2 million square km; Greenland: 2.2 million square km. Greenland is therefore even a bit smaller than Algeria or the Kongo.

This Happens with Russia, Canada, Scandinavia and Iceland. The same happens with the bottom of the map, examples are Antarctica and Australia.

That's what he meant. He misinterpreted his thoughts, however. This is not a "lie" on maps; it's the Mercator projection. Look up the science behind it. You'd be surprised how hard it is to squash a globe into a rectangle.

The Greenland comparison to Africa was wrong. Greenland is actually very tiny compared to Africa. The Mercator Projection you used shows Greenland to be almost as big as Africa but that's not the reality.

#4 is wrong. Due to the fact you cannot display a sphere perfectly on a flat surface, the map is distorted more the closer you go to the poles. Greenland is the size of Madagascar, nearly 14 times smaller than it appears on the map. It is not a huge place.

It's ironic how Nigeria is shaded differently from other African countries

In Sweden, we do drink vodka. Sweden, Finland and Russia are all Vodka drinkers. We do have other types of alcohol too, but mostly Vodka, beer and wine. And we here in the Nordic countries just love metal. It's cold, rough and depressed here. Somehow, we're also the happiest countries in the world. We're happy because we drink Vodka and listen to Metal

yes, that's Mercator Projection of showing maps in which shapes (not sizes) of countries are more accurate. Refer to Winkel Tripel Projection for sizes... 🗺️
