The Pottawatomi Indians in Battle Creek Mi are reinvigorating their maple syrup tradition - one bottle at a time!
Zisbakwet (maple syrup) is a traditional food of the Anishinaabe people. Syrup is used to flavor and sweeten everything from squash soup and stinging nettle tea to venison.

You might already know that there isn't always enough to share with the public. But if you're still interested in purchasing syrup you can try contacting the NHBPI Natural Resources Department at nhbp-nsn.gov/environmental/maple-syrup-program/
