Marner is not built for pressure. He will not have a season like Willy, he will crumble from fans booing for not signing and accepting trade.

Sam you said it best about Robertson. He is given some really bad advise if he thinks that he has been treated poorly by the Leafs. Dude has been injured so many times and the Leafs have progressively given him more and more opportunities every year on a stacked forward group. In a year or two on this team he could very well be a permanent top 6 forward if he continues his progression.

Shanahan had a plan with Dubas that got derailed with covid and Shanahan's over-extended "loyalty" kept him from moving off the $$ core. The only way to slavage his job now is a Marner trade. Hopefully Brad can wave his GM magic wand. Otherwise, this embittered fanbase will turn against Marner and Shanahan very quickly. Seize the day, Mitch can't stay.

JD you need to Really look at things from a more positive and clearer lens! BOTH Knies and McMann will finish with more goals and points than Bertuzzi. The ONLY FORWARD they'll be lacking and addressing with a trade is a 3C. They'll get it done, don't worry! Go have a few Screetch's in NFLD.

I think it was the player they put in the deal for Tanev was a Free Agent. Not sure if Dallas re-signed him. But it was a good indication Leafs weren’t gonna sign him. If Dallas didn’t re-sign the guy. The Leafs basically paid a 7th rounder for the rights to Tanev. I also think with the signings of the new D-Core opened up a new window for a couple years to win now. IMO. Plus Tuey really beefed up tue D-Core.

I'll watch, but first state letting Marner play out the year, or Worse signing him into infinity is really bad for him and the club. Chief's apparently applying a heavy N/S game. Marner simply doesn't fit this style. Best for him to do what's best for his career and move on. If the Leafs are not at this point, then they are failing as leaders of the club.

The only way to handle Marner is assuming this is his final year as a Leaf = limited PP time; no PK time; 2nd/3rd line; benched if not trying hard or scratched from many games. Guess what - his ticket will be greatly reduced once a full FA in 2025 for either Leaf extension or better yet to another team crying on the way out.

lol Sam is out of his mind saying Leafs are anything like the Oilers, besides the macro point of view. Garbage in goal, bad defense, top heavy offense. But details matter. The Leafs Core don't play playoff hockey. McDavid sets records and shows up every year. Draisatl had a "bad" playoff, which would still be better than any playoffs the handbag brigade has ever had. What a joke.

Not to mention, the stinker he let in, in game 7. The Oilers made it to the finals thanks to McDavid playing lights out. Their depth, and their PK and PP playing out of their minds. Skinner is MID.

Agreed. Big picture (as of now). Core four stays, other parts get shuffled, continuity built is diminished. How is this different from previous years? Defense is potentially better, but I’m skeptical of it being enough to change the DNA of this team to that of a real contender.

Robertson was treated a lot differently than Nylander was earlier in his career. Robertson has no leverage here. If he got that advice to request a trade from his Agent. I’d be looking at a different Agent. Next season Robertson could be a full time Leaf. And he’s a damn good player. I think it was due to Keefe not liking Robertson much and cap space. Like everyone else. You have to wait yer turn. Or SHOW he belongs. I wonder if they give him a 1 year show me what you’ve learned and prove you belong on this team. It’s not handed to them. Bit o do think they’ve treated Robertson a bit differently then Nylander and we all know he was a yo-yo between the Marlies and Leafs.
