Nope they aren’t sure yet it’s quite obvious they will bring him back once more and make the decision from there they have made it very clear who they are and are not resigning they were adamant abt Sammy and Bert not resigning and now look they both are expected to go to free agency but that’s not the case with marner and that’s cause they aren’t sure

100% agree. If the Leafs trade Marner and he gets another 100 point season the media will yell, "Why did you trade Marner?" It really all depends on how Bereube's meeting went with Marner. Bereube has to be impressed with Marner's two way play, but can he be physical enough for the new coach. I hope they keep Marner. The Blackhawks won a few Cups with their top 4 taking up 45% of their cap.

Hard to pick a top pairing defenseman if you don't even have a first round pick because they keep trading them away trying to get tougher players to insulate the core four only for the team to fall short every year. The only reason they had a first round pick (which was Boston's that they got in the Sandin trade) was because they couldn't flip it by the deadline.

Drafting late in the 1st round you're not getting a top pair D-man ready for the NHL. The best teams don't draft positions, they draft the best player available by their own metrics at whatever spot they're picking. Go look at the top D in the league. Virtually all of them drafted in the top 10 in the 1st round. Clark is no fool whatsoever.

But over the past 20 years, the Leafs haven't drafted a top pairing defenseman (not even a top 4 Dman!) outside of Rielly, or starting goalie (Reimer?) that has made an impact on this team. I know Wes Clark hasn't been at the helm long, but 20 years is a long time!

@@zafwarsi3238 Just a note, the Leafs wisely drafted Tukka Rask, then that inbred dolt Ferguson Jr. traded him for Andrew Raycroft a genuine flake goalie. Burke went out & signed a washed up Mike Komisarek & a solid Cup winning D in Beauchemin to "build out from the back end", but forgot to include a goalie. He then pissed away TWO top 10 1st round picks for the soft-as-a-grape Phil Kessel, picks that he failed to 'top 10 protect' & they turned into Tyler Seguin & Dougie Hamilton (top pair D-man). There's how to completely bungle an on-the-fly re-build. 13 years between The Fergler, Burke, Fletcher (one draft) & Nonis & that was 11 yrs of missing the playoffs. I've seen people refer to the Matthews era Leafs as a "shit show", but '04 to 2015 was actual shit show. Go check out their drafting record from '04 to 2014. Pathetic. Clark is WAY better.

Trade all the core, Goalie, Defence, Forwards who show up in the big games. Stop bringing back the cronic no shows.

Tree did extend Nilander to 11.6mill. Once Nylander landed the contract his pts per game fell to lack luster. That extension will be the laughing stock of his tenure 5yrs from now.

He only wanted the $$ and so that he held out to the very last day in pre season and accepted a 6mill+ contract because he had no choice. Then, plays "ok" through out, but he doesnt dig, doesnt hit, doesnt go against the boards....he floats. He plays the circles and the blue line. So.. get him the puck because he's open..he scores. 1st contract's about to expire. So, he busts his ass... a side of Nylander we haven't seen. Man... this player can actually be better than Matthews. Pulls off 1.75 super amazing seasons...why? To up his value. He lands a 11mill+ contract. BAM! He did it! Then he did not get a goal for 17 games?(roughly) Why..because he has an expenensive contract. Why push as hard as he did. So, what should brad do? Cut him..take our loss..find a grittier player to play around Matthews. One that will hit the corners, fight for pucks and defend. Will that hurt the leafs point production? Not as much as u may think with the right winger.

Marner is going to walk and then end of the year. and then become the most hated leaf of all time🤣🤣

He signs Nylander to a ridiculous contract he should have been moved! Can anyone actually say that Nylander can play in the Stanley cup playoffs diving in front of shots like ALL the major stars do, be hard on his man shift in and shift out? No way he can! He was a WASTE of money! And Treliving is paying him 11 mill.
