We left our home located south of Edmonton at 4:00 am and arrived at the airport in about 25 minutes. However, we arrived earlier than expected and had to wait since our Park 'N Fly parking booking was scheduled for 5:00 am. It's essential to book parking in advance and arrive at the designated time. We parked our car for 7 days and paid a total of $67.14 CAD, including taxes, fuel surcharge, and a $22 discount from Air Canada Vacations.
Since we couldn't wait, we rebooked our Park 'N Fly arrival to 4:45 am without any additional fee. The shuttle then took us to the departure area of Edmonton International Airport in just 5 minutes. Always remember to double-check:
- Your car keys
- Car windows and doors are closed and locked
- ID, wallet, purse, and phone Chargers
- Printed airline ticket
- and Carry-on luggage
Air Canada’s Priority Services are created to simplify and enhance your overall airport experience. As well as, ease your way through the entire airport processes from before you leave to after you leave the airport. Customers travelling in:
- International Business Class
- North America and Caribbean Business Class
- Premium Economy Class
are eligible for priority check-in
When checking in for your flight, always request a printed boarding pass after dropping off your luggage. Some ground staff may forget, as happened to me recently with Air Canada. Double-check the boarding pass for accuracy, especially if you have layovers. Each destination requires a separate boarding pass, and I once received my partner's pass instead of my own due to a staff’s error.
Air Canada offers additional privileges to business class passengers, like priority check-in and boarding. On our flight from Edmonton to Toronto, we enjoyed the benefits of business class and were able to use the priority lane, avoiding the long queue for security screening.
Before entering security checks, be sure to grab a bag to store liquids, gels, and aerosols in containers of 100ml or less. Remember, security staff will dispose of any liquids exceeding this limit, regardless of their value or type, including perfume or bottled water, so it's best to be prepared!
At security check, an unfamiliar item was detected - a cellphone charger - which required additional screening via swabbing. Fortunately, all was clear. After clearing security, we headed to Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge, a business class perk, where we enjoyed breakfast at 5:18 am. With our 7:00 am flight departure and 6:30 am boarding time, we had an hour to relax in the lounge. To access the lounge, the receptionist scanned our boarding pass to confirm our eligibility.
Maple Leaf Lounges
Maple Leaf Lounges are located in 17 airports across Canada, the US, and Europe. The Edmonton International Airport lounge is situated in the South Terminal, second floor, next to Gates 54 and 56, after security check. Access is typically reserved for Maple Leaf Club members, but business class passengers also enjoy lounge access as a perk. However, if a guest accompanies you and doesn't have the same ticket class, they'll be charged a fee based on arrival time:
Before 11:00 a.m.: $20-$24 CAD/USD
After 11:00 a.m.: $30-$36 CAD/USD"
The lounge opens from 4:30 am until 12:30 am the entire week.
They are now implementing eGates with digital identification to facilitate a quicker entry process to their lounges.
