Maple and Walnut Laminated Drumsticks on the Lathe- Vintage Wood Workshop

As a gift for my Stepson, I turned some laminated walnut and maple drumsticks which he then tested out during some live music. This video was inspired by Steve Carmichael who did a great video on turning drumsticks: kzread.info/dash/bejne/q5V8tKaOlL3bpLQ.html
I also want to thank Dominic Bender for hosting his Challenge Tree contest in which I won by random drawing the Easy Wood Tools Easy Finisher carbide tool shown in the video.

Cool idea to use a laminate, and it looks great. I love Walnut with Maple, it’s one of my favorite combos. I often play a Walnut kit with Maple hoops, so I will definitely be making myself a pair like this! Thanks for the inspiration

Wow, nice job and thanks for the mention and link! Laminating them is a good idea. I learned why they don't make cherry drumsticks cause mine broke by the end of the video. Great music too!

cool, Thanks!! It was fun and they've held up so far although the walnut is a bit soft and gets marred up easily

Very nice! Myself and a buddy are going to tackle our first set of drumsticks this weekend! I did a practice run on some thin stock today and noticed quite a bit of flex, just like you mentioned in your video. How much did your 2-wheel steady rest help stiffen up your drumstick during turning? I've seen your version of the steady rest which can be placed at the back of the piece and be fairly out of the way. And I've seen other versions that encompass the entire piece. I'm not sure which one is worth making for this project or which one is more effective. If your 2-wheel steady rest did a good job stiffening up the piece, then I think I may go that route.
