We present you one of Japan's most decorated figure skaters, Mao Asada 浅田 真央! She won an Olympic silver medal at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, where she also became the first female figure skater landing three triple Axel jumps in one competition - one in the short program and two in the free skating. This meant a new Guinness World Record! With 131.72 points from the free skating, Asada won the Olympic silver medal with a combined score of 205.50 points, 23.06 behind South Korean Yuna Kim. At the Vancouver Closing Ceremony, Asada carried the Japanese flag. 4 years later, at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, she became the first woman successfully landing eight triple jumps in the free skate, which is the maximum possible under the Zayak Rule. Mao' Asada's impressive medal collection also includes three Gold medals at the World Championships and three Gold medals at the Four Continents Championships. We bring you all of her Olympic performances. Enjoy!

I was so sad for after her SP in Sochi. But she shows what true champions are made of in her free skate. She's one of my all-time favourites.

The Rachmaninov FP is phenomenal. I am from the UK, I do feel Mao was unfairly singled out for under-rotations and edge calls, especially with what skaters got away with in the past, and if I am honest what some skaters seem to get away with now (and even at 2014 Sochi!). She really improved her jump technique throughout her career. Her PCS should be through the roof here. And, then we get to Mao's step sequences. First, the choreography, excellent, then the technique, the edges, the twizzles, the turns, in one direction then in the other, then the musicality, she hits every note, every beat, the choreography is so tricky, because it would be obvious if she was even a fraction out of time (there is a jump in the stsq which

To me her artistry is unmatched. I get that this is a sport, but the way she captures the heart and soul of every piece she skates to is what has made her the most memorable female skater for me. She tugs at my heartstrings. I love you, Mao!!!

Her spiral, step sequences, flexibility, triple axels... are simply extraordinary. People criticise Mao for her wrong edges, underrotation, inconsistency with jumping 3A, but they fail to realise that she's the only woman at the time to challenge such technically difficult programmes everytime, and by that she put her chance to win at risk. Isn't that what a real athlete should look like? In this regard, I would say Mao is the best female skater of all time

She is a ballerina on ice and a philosopher on ice. From her skating I learned about life.

Once you start watching it is hard to stop. Mao's performances are still great after all these decades and I am really looking forward to the ice show at the theater in June.

What makes Mao amazing is that she continued to work on EVERY aspect of her skating throughout her career and it really shows in this video. Instead of just leaving out weaker jumps or elements like her contemporaries, she was willing to completely strip down & retool her jump technique, add the salchow back in, work on the lutz edge, while also making progress in choreography, footwork, and spins. Probably one of the best skaters in history in terms of all-around skill development.

I had the opportunity to see her at 2016 worlds, she was called at the gala the "LEGENDARY" Mao Asada, and seeing this clips with all of her performances sums it all, she really is a legend, and a little wake up to the judges, they tended to scrutinize with the closest zoom all her mistakes, and now they look away the same mistakes of many ladies today and reward them with so high scores. Mao should have been able to brake the 140 points barrier looking ago, but the judges have a hard time on counting all the "wrongs" they saw and deducted as much as they could. But seeing this makes remember of how the performance breaks the judging, and becomes timeless and cries out for fairness in this sport.

That spiral sequence in Vancouver was honestly so much better in her FS because it just OOZES with power but I do like how the final spiral hits exactly on the beat in her SP.

I'm glad that the IOC has finally uploaded this. When she landed her first 3A+2T in her SP at Vancouver, I still remember how I excited I was; I jumped up in front of the TV in my parents' living room at 3 a.m. - waking up my entire family!
