However, Gaza is a country of over 2.2 million, of which half are said to be children. Even 30 out of 1.1 million is less than 0.003%. If the total dth rate from hunger in Gz were the same as in Egypt, where there is no war, you’d expect 88 dths from hunger per year, just from ordinary poverty and neglect - it’s terrible, but normal. So, how can you conclude “forced famine” from 30 dths in eight months of war? This narrative needs some serious questioning, and we didn’t see it in this interview.

@canitbethat these are 30 children who died just from starvation in the past 2 months. Most deaths are not counted, and we have no count of older Palestinians either. There are numerous reports of women having stillbirths from malnutrition and even more reports of people dying of normal injuries because the starvation exacerbates their injuries. So many children will never recover from this lack of nutrition, even if famine ends today! But also, very importantly, most of those starving end up dying from bombs! When every doctor, aid worker, human rights groups, journalist says there's famine and the pictures and videos show starving babies...maybe there isn't a conspiracy theory to explore 🤷‍♀️

This isn't what the word usually means, though. These include, for example, a *daily* death rate of at least 2 per 10,000 people. (So "famine" across Gaza would imply 440 *per day*.)

That was their strategy, openly stated by former and current israeli officials. And of course. For the actions of Israel right now, only Israel is responsible.
