Try and be better, best advice!

I have conventional no till and full tillage organic. As far as soil erosion issues, I think my organic is better. I always have covers, diverse crop rotation and have perennials in waterways and steep areas. I think going full tillage forces the farmer to take the approach to land use with a lot more nuance and consideration for the specific geography of a particular field. For the no till it’s more difficult to do that particularly when the spraying is hired, co-op guys with massive sprayers don’t like to turn things off for waterways. This spring had much more issue of erosion on no till than my organic.

Beautiful view from both tractors you might say it’s a regular S show

I had a conversation with my dad yesterday about how maybe with no till we maybe don’t save anymore money because yes we use less fuel we do use more chemicals. I have went back to some passes with cultivator this year as well ahead of corn to level fields and take out small broadleaf weeds that are coming. The vertical till does nothing to take them out they pop back up after first rain.

There is a lot of no chill ground that is still dead dirt. Covers are needed

Yes! You need cows or get a guy to bring cattle onto your land.

Feed TMR ration. Stock pile manure one edge of field through out the year have manure service spread if fall, applied anhydrous in fall then drill cover crop with John Deere 750 drill and not I'll in spring. Can't tell manure spread out there at 20 ton per acre those vertical spreads do suck good job. Drill levels every thing kinda vertical tillage.
