Ummmmm I dunno bud, probably because they are well fed? also if you look at old circus pictures, the Lions they used to have were HUGE, I personally suspect it could be in addition to being fed a lot, the male Lions have a growth promoting gene but Lionesses have a growth inhibiting gene, it could be that Lionesses get stressed in circuses which results in somehow weakening that gene and hence the resulting male cubs grow large, or I am just overthinking because the lions are just very well fed, although abused asf.

Very impressive show! How brave and talented are those trainers! Those big cats received good care from the circus, they are well fed, and in good shape. Most of their wild cousins can hardly have enough food as they do. Human care provide them the best conditions to survive, and that is why animals under human care have longer lifespan than wild animals. It is hard to imagine how miserable it would be when a predator in the wild lost its ability to catch its prey. They usually succumb to starvation or serious wound due to fightings with other animals. And that is why the lives of predators are so short and violent in the wild, because resources such as food and territory are very limited in the nature. The future of wild animals is very bleak due to loss of habitat, poaching, etc. Animals under human care are immune from those dangers, so their survival is assured as long as enough care is provided.

Kieran Pearson-Price Those animals are well fed, you can simply observe their body shape and behavior to see how healthy they are. This circus is a great one, because it provide them enough food and care. The circus has bred lots of tigers to save the species, their contribution is helpful to save the endangered species. If you know more about nature, you would know that wild tigers are living in multiple threats, and their habitat are constantly decreasing and fractured. Without enough genes, tigers are under threat of genetic diseases, and they can not sustain their survival under current situation. The lives of big cats in the wild are far more violent than in the circus. Predators will die once they lost ability to catch prey. Only big cats in zoos and circuses can really reach their natural life expectancy, because they receive medical care and food from people. Do not assume natural environment is a paradise for animals. If you had more documentaries made by Sir David Attenborough, you can understand how hard it is to survive in the wild. Know more about nature!

Kieran Pearson-Price Animals suffer more in nature. Male tigers and lions will kill Cubs they don't know in order to mate as soon as possible with females. More than half of the cubs can never live to their first year. The lives of big cats are filled with violence and pain. Only the strongest individual can manage to defend the territory to have better chances to catch prey. Once they get old, they will have a very painful death. If you had watched documentaries made by national geographic or BBC, you will see some lone lions killed by hyenas, and that is so bloody! It is a blessing for those animals living with adequate food and medical care. Don't demonize organizations and people that care and love their animals. Please visit a natural history museum before you jump into the conclusion.

Even individuals from their own species will be fatal for them at times. Their fight for mate or territory is extremely violent and bloody. Lots of them can hardly defend their food. And the violence in nature exceed anything you can imagine when you live in a human society. You don't know them, and you don't know what will happen once they are back in nature. Lots of them will starve to death, and imagine how painful it is! This circus is a qualified one, because they provided them best opportunity to survive. Don't assume their wild cousins are free, they are not free from violence and danger posed by their natural environment. Because of the hardship in nature, big cats can never reach their life expectancy in nature. They are not like you, who can enjoy retirement. The death of big cats always end in a violent way, sometimes because of other big cats😿

These Lions and Tigers look very happy and well fed. Every one has to earn their bread and butter and they are doing same! In the Wild They hunt to survive and in the circus they Entertain.

Jesus Swag That's most likely not a Barbary lion. Large manes can grow on any type of lion in cool or cold climates. In various mountainous areas throughout Africa, lions had this kind of appearance which is of course an adaptation to the cooler mountain climates, but these mountain dwelling lions have been killed off leaving only a few small populations. Look up "Lion Mane Linked To Climate" on google, that goes into detail.

There are dark lions in various areas of tropical Africa, you occasionally see them in lush wooded areas or even forests, some areas of Southern Africa have them too. Lions also get darker skin if they live in cold areas, which makes their fur longer and darker. Dark manes however are found on almost every lion, this happens when a lion is fully mature. So no, dark skin has nothing to do with it, and the darkest lions I’ve seen were always found in lush tropical woodlands.

You see how big they are?These animals are well fed and taken care of. Just like your pets at home. If they didn't like it they would've attacked a long time ago as apex predators really fear nothing. He obviously has their trust and to be able to turn his back to them means they have some kind of live for him as well

I guess a lot of audience there feel sad watching them, not enjoying them
