The X-ADV isn't really a scooter. It's a motorbike in scooter clothing. Interesting comparison for me, nonetheless, as I had considered buying one of these two, although had I gone for the NC, it would have been the DCT model. It's a shame the X-ADV isn't the Mk2 as that is supposed to be better. It's also an older-model NC. Excellent video. Nick

Have NC (2018) for 2 years. Modest power and dietary fuel consumtion seemed reasonable arguments for my first bike. Chose it over Versys and Vstrom due to its storage frunk and can say with no doubts - there is no other more practical commuter than NC. Can facilitate whole picnic with top case and storage frunk, mentioned before. Also, no need to carry helmet with yourself. Still, cant get rid of the feeling, that I have married the most accurate girl in the class, but the right one is that who is on cheer-leader team! That pretty much explains why NC is compared with scooter :( Thanks for video. Appreciated!

It looks like your riding the last of the previous model NC, from 2019 it gained 10% bhp , shed weight and got a bigger storage frunk. The seat height dropped 25 mm. I’ve had the VFR 1200 DCT and now have the 2022 NC manual. Is one better than the other, no, they both have different ways of doing things well.

Put the additional driver Footpegs onto the X-ADV and you get a completely different bike! This has nothing to do with a scooter than. Very sporty and nimble, but also capable of touring and comfortable all day rides. I own two of them and love them. I sold my BMW R1200GS LC after having the X-ADV. Never had so much fun on a motorbike.

Love the video. I'm currently trying to decide whether to go bike or scooter as I only commute (currently on a Piaggio MP3) .. could you do the same for say the adv 350 and a manual equivalent? Asking for a friend 😂

I think there's 3 levels of sport on that model, I believe you keep pressing the button🤔. I have the 2022 model with more horsepower and it easily worries sports bikes 👍🏻

Would be interesting to try with the next gen DCT - when I tested is even better (I tested the 750X and Forza 750 both with DCT last year, I also preferred the NC). The oiler on the X-ADV is a GIDIBII a manual chain oiler, great kit for under £50

Interesting comparison I looked at the Honda adv150 as that’s all we appeared to have on offer where I live in the world already have a Honda cb500x but fancied a scooter was put off as found if difficult to touch the ground properly due to wide seat.think if I was to buy a scooter would buy a smaller and lighter as what is the point. Great video lots of views of both bikes thank you. What ride next anything you fancy as your reviews are always good

I hope the community does not lynch me but I wished there was a 125cc Chopper with such an automatic gear box. I understand though that there is no market for it. many thanks for this nice video, much appreciated.

Having owned both Nc750x and xadv. Although both in dct. Xadv for comfort. And Nc750x just for good honest fun and 75 to 80 mpg. Does drop a few with pillion. But awesome to live with, at a more sedate pace.

In the summer your legs and thighs will feel much cooler on the X-ADV/Forza due to less heat to the leg in slow or stopped summer traffic, being that the engine is enclosed. On long tour/ commute having floor board (XADV is more comfortable than having foot rest (NC). I wish NC fuel filler was on the side, so I don't have to unstrap whatever is on the back seat to add petrol. I like that the NC has 17 inch tire, greater tire availability. NC cost less and has more aftermarket parts, compared to X-ADV.

I challenge anyone to say they prefer manual after living with a DCT gearbox for 6 months. I have a 1250GS and an X-ADV but actually prefer the 55bhp X-adv!

@@kwakithailand A traffic jam is a traffic jam. Dct means you don't have to worry about the clutch which is what makes riding in traffic tiring

Most of the issue with the X-ADV is around the “what is it?” question and the subject of much debate. Forget the labels and just enjoy it for whatever reason it is. I’m pondering one to replace my 890 Adventure having now bought a 701 Husky Enduro. The 890 is almost redundant and would never go off-road but has a cramped (for me) riding position with high pegs. The 701 is ideal. I had an ATAS DCT but didn’t like the DCT around town which, ironically, is why I bought it. The X-ADV has a hand rear brake so far better control at low speeds plus skinny and the underseat storage which I love. This or the Forza 750 is the dilemma.

Im struggling at the minute between an nx500 or an adv350. Mostly commuting and mid range social rides with one foreign tour.

Thats a great review, thanks. I've not owned either, although I did have the Forza 750 for a while, which has the same engine as both. They're both (NC750 and ADV) heavy machines. I hear what you say about NC being lighter. They both have good 'road presence'. If you ride a 350 scooter, like me, you will know what I mean - it doesn't! One correction, you say that the XADV doesn't have a clutch.. It has two! They are ingenious electro-mechanical-hydraulic devices all going on inside the gearbox mounted forward of the engine. I guess you meant 'xadv does not have a rider operated clutch lever'.

Great vid BUT the x adv is not a scooter, it does have 6 gears, a tiptronic change, and it has 2 clutches, CVT are true scooter's I have the DCT NC750x , strange I prefer the NC over the ADV and I find the ADV is better in the bends, but both the bikes I have riden are the latest from the range more power 👍👍👍

Yes totally agree starange how we all have our thought's I'm just putting up my version of the latest x adv, get a ride, the older NC rides different than the new one and the new x adv is alledgidley narrower and more powerfull. Love the Vid wish I put as much effort in@@motorsforthemasses 👍👍👍

Same here, 2023 X ADV and a CB1000R…. The ADV is the go to choice by far for day to day riding. Yeah, many people think it’s a 125…..and does provoke many questions from bikers…. Who I suspect are closet inner scoot wannabe’s but just not brave enough to try one. Throughly recommend trying one.

Reversing the adv , you were going slightly against the dct , if you put it in to neutral, you would have less resistance on your legs when pushing it backwards while sat on it. 😊

The dct nc750 is the obvious choice or a forza scooter of various engine sizes if you don’t want the quasi off road capability.

I have a ten year old NC750X that I bought eight months ago. If you're the kind of person who gets excited by how economical it is to operate a 1997 four cylinder automatic Toyota Camry, the NC should a good fit. I really like the bike but it does lack charisma. It's also a very good pick if you plan on doing your own tooling. Screw type valve adjusters and easy access to most things. Honda does use these confusing plastic bodywork fasteners that seem to break after a few uses and are priced in a manner that would cause a vendor of boutique narcotics to blush. I'd like to try the ADV but unfortunately Honda has never imported them to Canada.

so you didn't change gears yourself. Why not? There are - and + buttons as an override of the automatic. It would have been interesting to hear your judgement on this driving option

they are both automatic bikes. Xadv is not a scooter it has dct and it doesnt have cvt the swingarm is obviously a bike driven in chain, its just the aesthetic figure that looks a scooter

I know but the point is, people will look at it and think scooter, but stating what it is and how it rides lets people know how bike like it feels (despite the engine weight transference difference);. They are not both automatic either. The NC was the non-DCT version as stated at the beginning.

@@motorsforthemasses ow that is a manual nc750. Scooters are scooters, automatic is somewhat different to name anyway scooter is automatic also but it derives on an CVT drive and also the whole engine is swing by the rear tire.

If we sum up with all scooters as automatic then we may conclude that all 4wheel cars with automatic are also scooter

You can get the automated gearbox on the NC as well.

How are 750cc motors for the masses? I haven't seen many if not any cheaper priced bikes on here in the last year aside from the voge, do you not review as much these days?

I do, just getting bikes in smaller capacity not so easy now. I will say masses implies what many would ride and 750cc is what many who have passed their test would ride.

xadv750 is a scooter-like bike with a DCT, not a scooter with automatic transmission; and NC750 with its anemic 750, only make sense with DCT. Should you want a manual 750, you could peek a Transalp, or the same motor street model of Honda. For a closer price with the xadv750, by the way, hence a more honest comparaison.

A horn pip is to get your attention to the other vehicle. That was a legitimate pip to let you know they were approaching. Read the highway code!

I know they are to let you know of their presence but no one has ever done that to me before. There was masses of room.

For me, to get back into biking on a 125, ive been looking at loads of bikes and can't see anything i really like...Now iam looking at scooters like the Honda Forza 125 alot more 🙂

Look at the royal enfield 350s, they're super cheap. As economic as a 125 but a bit more performance presence and stability

Honda wave 125 is a great small bike

If Honda filled in the gap between the seat and the dash it would be a "motorbike" every bit as the other one. But would be far more practical with loads more storage space. 👍

Just wait for the E-clutch to land, possibly another game changer 🤔

How does one get on the big scooter, do you put your arse down first, then swing your leg through the bike where the gas tank would be? I suspect those big scoots will gain favour with aging riders with arthritis, who no longer want to saddle up on a large bike and hands are becoming achy.

@@motorsforthemasses OK, I found my self planting my butt down and putting my leg through the bikes; where the tank would be, on the underbone bikes in SE Asia. I liked it, I was a runner for years, and my hips aren't what they were. One of the many mistakes I've made in life.

Scooter costs are ridiculous compared to the geared equivalent,

I find it fully that these scooters are Hugh in most of the world apart from GB and Ireland, strange

Biker's biggest fear is becoming a scooterer after trying on one:) If you don't really need a manual in particular purpose, automatic/DTC is all you want in ordinary life, even more, they enhance the fun factor, admit it haha

But a XADV isn’t a scooter, it’s a motorbike with a scooter body ?

The point being, initial thoughts and ride feel is scooter-esque. Regardless of the engine and drivechain; it still feels like a scooter with the engine weight transference, twist and go element and feet position.

Pity you didn't try the adv350 lot less weight , pick up is quicker , motorway speeds no problem , plus its half the price new (still cheaper than the used one shown ) i got one as a commuter , but the guzzis have been out even less now , twist and go go go

ADV 350 is much quicker off the lights. Twice as much storage under the seat. Half the price.

There are a few NORMAL PEOPLE around some where. BLESS them for asking. Even BIKERS will pass you without asking TODAY. "WANKERS"
