It only repeats the position you told it to go to. So you might put it in the right spot every time or the wrong spot every time. And it does nothing to control the orientation of the part. Extremely limited value and applications, considering the high cost.

Hi, for component in the carousel, how do you ensure the pick-and-place probe placed exactly in the middle of the component? it seems the guided hole did not take into account the offset of the position of the component when you pick it.

I was curious about that also. Looking at the placement of the two ICs at 3:21 to 3:32 it looks like the guide pin gets you to the nominal part location but gives you some wiggle room to manually align while placing.

I'd imagine that this product level would suit those smaller businesses who cannot afford to outlay more than $150,000 on an automated pick and place machine - especially considering that that small business might already have the skilled staff on site, which makes the case for a serious investment in an automated pick and place machine even less tangible.

A "real" business isnt going to DIY a pick and place machine or buy a 20 year old used one. Plus the setup times on many large machines outweighs any time advantage. Hence the niche for this machine.

Because when your P&P examle place qfn qfp or bga wrong (with offset by x y or teta) u can remove component with this manual p&p without destroying solder and than manualy replace or place by P&P..

По видео видно как некоторые компоненты криво встали. не вижу сложности сделать полностью автомат, который даже при штучном производстве сделает все точно. Какая разница, если здесь позиционирование все равно идет на автомате. Подобные машинки не сложнее лазерного гровера на ардуино. Ну, или немного сложнее. Вся проблема в грамотном ПО, но и эта технология уже далеко шагнула вперед.

Если система видит на какой угол нужно повернуть деталь и указывает местоположение, то я не понимаю почему ее не оснастили дополнительными четырьмя двигателями, а на человеке оставили только инспекцию If the system sees to what angle the part needs to be turned and indicates the location, then I do not understand why it was not equipped with additional four motors (moving + rotation), and only an inspection was left on the person

At 3:37, it looks like component, "RIVX 55M" has the lower left first two pins soldered together as an accidental short ???? Hope I'm wrong... Honestly I would o with rectangular solder needle dispensers, as they might avoid such tragedies...

If the board is still being placed, then the solder paste has not yet been melted. When it is, the surface tension will easily pull the solder onto the pad. This is pretty standard in SMD soldering, and is part of the reason for the solder mask layer.

you can get a quote at the fritsch website, but make sure you're sitting down before you open theyr email... it's probably around 15k€, soo, better go buy a simple but fully automated SMT placer for 5k€ in asia, do it completely by hand, or actually buy something else that is a bit more reasonably priced...

by the time you set that up you could build one by hand easy, if your gonna do volume just get the pnp, does't need to be a fancy one either, get a used one with a few perks and warranties. You could modify that setup and make is faster by using a microscope and a mouse controlling the placement wand instead of this non-sense.

Because this takes a whole lot less setup, allows you to populate the board progressively in any order for troubleshooting purposes, substitute components on the fly, repair a board from which you have removed components, and so on. It's not intended for significant production runs.

Just the flipping mechanism killed me from working in an aerospace company... no time for such waste of time... XD
by the time you set that up you could build one by hand easy, if your gonna do volume just get the pnp, does't need to be a fancy one either, get a used one with a few perks and warranties. You could modify that setup and make is faster by using a microscope and a mouse controlling the placement wand instead of this non-sense.
I think this isnt meant for mass production,this is for making some prototype sample pcb

Why would you want semi-automatic when you can have full auto for less than $2k (at least, those that sort of work)?

Because this takes a whole lot less setup, allows you to populate the board progressively in any order for troubleshooting purposes, substitute components on the fly, repair a board from which you have removed components, and so on. It's not intended for significant production runs.
