Manual Resuscitator Setup for Use with Oxygen

This video goes over the assembly, checkout and hookup to oxygen of a manual resuscitator. Also reviewed is the functional components of the bagger system and how gas flows to the patient.
Please note that I accidentally referred to the patient valve assembly having a 22 mm ID and 15 mm OD which is incorrect. The patient valve assemble has a 15 mm ID and 22 mm OD.
There's also a sound that occurs towards the end of the video that sounds like me saying a bad swear word (profanity) but its actually a sound that the bagger made when I grabbed it while looking for the remote.......Oops

    Great video. One point which wasn't clear was how the oxygen gets into the optional reservoir via a port which seemed to have a valve against it when it was pressure tested...?

    How do you think you can measure the FiO2 delivered to an intubated patient? Is it possible using a flow sensor in the oxygen intake and compare it with the flow delivered to the patient? Are there other options?

    No. These are used during resuscitation where you will want an FiO2 of as close to 1 as possible.

    Upon setting up and using a duckbill valve FMV, I notice the duckbill valve staying open while the flow meter is set to flush. Why is this? Is the valve old?

  • @GeorgeORRT

    @GeorgeORRT

    4 жыл бұрын

    When you use high flows greater than 15 LPM (FLUSH), the flows may be too high causing unintentional PEEP as the system can't vent the excessive gas coming into the BVM system. Try turning down the flow till you have just enough flow coming into the system to keep the optional reservoir inflated while bagging the patient (note that it doesn't need to be over distended). That should still deliver near ,maximal FiO2 and minimize PEEP as the duckbill should close properly.

    Sir how much time it will give oxygen to patients Pls reply sir

  • @GeorgeORRT

    @GeorgeORRT

    3 жыл бұрын

    As long as your using it correctly it will supply "gas" to a patient. The oxygen level (FiO2) and length the tank or source will last depends on the speed of the gas flow into your bagger and how many times per minute you squeeze the bag. The faster the gas flow rate and respiratory rate, the less time your gas cylinder will last.
