Mantis X10 Review with a Shotgun | Aaron Gould

Спорт

Recently I had the opportunity to test out the Mantis X10 elight shooting performance system using a shotgun. The Mantis X10 records your movements before, after, and during your shot. This gives you valuable feedback on how you set up for the shot and swing to the target with your shotgun. The fun and easy to use app the data is displayed on will give you insights to your shooting you have never seen before! Great product to add to your firearm training tools.

    Does the mantis have a Sporting Clays function, or does it just allow for skeet and trap? Also now long does it stay paired, you have to reconnect after every shot?

    Which would you recommend buying a shot cam or mantis X 10.

  • @gouldshooting

    @gouldshooting

    4 жыл бұрын

    That really depends on what your going to use it for. The shot cam has video which is nice and allows you to video the shot and or birds you are shooting. However the Mantis X10 gives you data that the shot cam doesn’t. For training purposes with firearms and bows, I would say easily the Mantis. But they really are two distinctly different tools. How does it know when the target has been acquired?

  • @gouldshooting

    @gouldshooting

    4 жыл бұрын

    Probably a developer question... but my thinking is when it analyzes the data it knows where you started from, or where you made your mount and where you pulled the trigger. Calculating when your movements started moving towards the clay. This makes sense as barrel movement up until you have acquired the target is relative. Once the gun starts moving towards the target or shot that is most likely when your brain recognizes the target and you move towards it. That’s my intuition. Aaron

    Would you say this would make you a better shot than shotcam if you are a hunter but very rarely shoot traps

  • @gouldshooting

    @gouldshooting

    4 жыл бұрын

    I get that your hunter and not a sporting or competitive shooter. But even hunters SHOULD practice. Yes, this can help the hunter as well as the sport shooter. Efficiency of movement is not limited to sporting clay situations. If you want to take game as ethnically and easily as possible this can help your shooting. Aaron

    Very complicated for the average person, i think what they are trying to do is to sell their company for shotkam so that it could be integrated with the shot video from shotkam

  • @gouldshooting

    @gouldshooting

    4 жыл бұрын

    From the shooters prospective it is not complicated. Video like the shotcam is helpful to an extent but it doesn’t give you the full picture... data when used properly is powerful. Video can show you missed the target behind the bird but data like the X10 can tell you why, like your swing speed was slowing down. Aaron

    If this is set up to read like the one for rifles/pistols it's not hard to understand, you just have to get it into your hands. And I improved when I used this, it's ruthless and demands perfection! I haven't used the shotgun one though, so that's my out.

  • @gouldshooting

    @gouldshooting

    4 жыл бұрын

    When I was a high school grad, I was nervous about what laid ahead at college. I asked a fellow construction coworker, who was finishing up college at the time if college was as hard as everyone made it out to be. His reply was “yes, but if your want to make it through you will”. I believe this is good advice no matter what your after high school plans are. If your determined to succeed you will! In the words of Henry Ford if you say you can or you can’t your right. Let that sink in. What lies before grads in 2020 is harder than what most have faced, high school with all its challenges is not as complicated as what lies ahead. But if you want to make it, you will. Aaron
