I've always thought she was so beautiful. I think the way she talks is so 60's, trippy and cute. I love this expanded video. Thanks for posting.

She passed away several years ago (2017). She went to nursing school with a recommendation from Vincent Bugliosi. She spent her career as a nurse. One of the few who actually seem to have made something of her life.

I don't really understand what was Ruth's plan in this. LSD is not poison, so Barbara would have like a heavy trip and... what then, go crazy? Decide not to testify? People have taken more acid and were perfectly ok afterwards.

I guess it was to make her so tripped out that she would have some sort of accident. Or perhaps, they did think that too much acid would kill her. Was a really strange episode in that saga.

Perhaps to scare her into not testifying. Perhaps to incapacitate her so she would be unavailable to testify. Perhaps to kill her. From what I recall, Barbara started panicking and running through traffic and collapsed on a sidewalk when paramedics were called. Those who planned this (it wasn’t just Ruth Ann) had to know the last two were possibilities. A 17 year old girl alone in an unfamiliar city on a large dose of a hallucinogenic drug, who knows what could have happened to her. They were all charged with attempted murder but the charges were lowered to attempt to interfere with a witness.

She was a teenager, obviously not the most well-adjusted, and was (like the company she kept) certainly lacking in maturity and guidance at this stage in her life. I don’t get the impression she seems “siked.” Seems more like she’s shy and unable to process having a frenzy of media sticking cameras and microphones in her face, since it was so far outside her experience.

I didn't mean it in a bad way. Barbara was probably one of the most normal girls of the Manson family. She even became friends with Debra Tate and went to court with her during Bruce Davis parole hearings. She was the one who heard Shorty Shea's scream the night he was killed, and it traumatized her. And even tesfied against the cult during the trial in 1970.

The statement about the D.A. never bringing charges against the family, that's not true. Moorehouse, Fromme, Grogan, Share, and I believe Rice were charged and were convicted and served 90 days in jail, besides Moorehouse who did not appear for sentencing. She fled to Nevada and law enforcement didn't think it was necessary to extradite her back to California.

@@EastSide-qc5oy - Bugliosi’s twisting and turning things, adding lies and embellishments, and subtracting some of the truth is still wrong and the trial was not a fair one. Was Charlie guilty? Yeah, I’d say so. But just because the prosecutor believes or knows that the defendant is guilty doesn’t justify presenting a case based on lies. He wanted the fame, the credit, and all the money he could get. He cashed in on this trial for the rest of his life because of the royalties from his book Helter Skelter which was and still is a best seller. Bugliosi only cared about himself. There was a lot of pressure from other people on him to get a conviction. He also put a lot of pressure on himself. He’d never lost a case before and he wasn’t about to have this trial be the first one he lost.

@@cmm2145 I’m familiar with all the criticisms of Bugliosi, and I’m not here to defend him. Whether or not it truly was an unfair trial is not, in my opinion, up to me or to other lay commenters on KZread, or sensationalist “journalists” also out to make money, who it could be argued also only care about themselves. We seem to agree on Manson though.
