I'm speechless. This is absolutely incredible!! I can't remember the last time I felt so scared! The sound design and narration was phenomenal, and it gave such a rich, eerie atmosphere the entire time. I'm stunned that something of this quality is freely available, and I want to thank you for producing something so brilliant, and I really hope you'll be able to do more of this sort of thing. Fantastic.

The atmosphere was everything. Sound makes all the difference. It's not the darkened rooms that frighten us, it's the sounds that go BUMP in the night that invoke fear. So very well done.

Very cool Ian, draws one in nicely ! Now the really scary thing is it reminded me of some old folks homes here in Florida, you wanna talk offensive odors, holy cow, one needs a proper gas mask. The 2nd floor of one was the main floor, the first floor, so so lit, now that was a horror, not sure what some of them were but thankfully all I had to do was change a filter on the HVAC at the far end of the hall. 'They live, they move, and they smell like something long dead'. Seriously, loved the read, would be great for a dark night when you wanna scare preteen kids. I know you and Jen have been to the states, and survived, it can be pretty strange in some areas, weird things across the pond !!

@@HorrorBabble My wife and I recently had our first child and I've been listening to some older videos to get me through the late nights. This video had me pretty jumpy. My son was in his bassinet and I walked to another room while playing this video. About the time one of the scarier parts was happening I got hit with a random gust of air. I almost yelled lol. HorrorBabble as the genera is fairly new to me, as in only a few months, I have sampled what is available on the web. What I think of your work, is that it is consistent, with the traditions of the stories that I have listened to. The 21st century twist, and technologies are great news for the dark and stormy night, and the genre, all together. What I think important, or not, is that this is GREAT. ❤️🙏🏽🎩 Top Hat Award

How I wished I listen to this in the dark ,but I was just too damn busy, working doing things , but with just the monologue the atmosphere that you created it would be like a magnet to me through the course of this story but there are nights & days that I just listen [ to your stories ] back-to-back . - NOV. 17............................... Continue,,,,, Their must definitely be a continuation to this exact story, but in following sequels there should be a Vampire Killer , because the body of the man was discovered . And later on in the near future there are two couples that wandered into that castle . ( that you need to write ). To be in the next episode /sequelto ,, make any continuation to this story. This story could even work into episodes or a short four-part addition. But add characters to it where you would speak but the different characters. Possibly get your wife to interact as the frightened Maiden, it most definitely will be a total success which your stories which already are, but as you had the content of what you created it could be so much better. This is such an erie desolate place that one person should never walk alone. Is that occasion does happen again the weather should play a huge part in it like a massive thunderstorm happening and the man being alone she would must have to find shelter. So please I plead with you to ponder this thought of returning to that distance damned evil dark place. But this time we revisit and you enter that dining room and the Foulness of the scent of that rotting food but now you get a different scent of decaying bodies.. You and your two friends, Tony and Theresa holding single candle operas lit you see the bodies slumped over the rotting food as the rats are climbing on and through the decaying bodies as they Feast on their flesh. Teresa the girl , young woman about 21. And then we have your friend Tony which is about 24 years old , but he young man with many absorbed books on the supernatural and Evil things that have lert our land in the last 500 years. But this time you came prepared to confront this evil entity this Blood draining Evil source. Unfortunately as the three of you enter that dining room Teresa gets a very visual living nightmare that will never leave her mind but you see as her mind has absorbed the visual horror that she is looking at she screams at the top of her lungs. The level of fright that Teresa has just absorbed her screams echoed throughout the dining room and that Library where you once stood. Your other friend Tony runs to Teresa's Aid and holds her, as the three of you collect yourselves and try not to be absorbed by the decaying site the three of you go to the right and through the huge 14 ft pocket doors into that huge library that you spoke of, Tony immediately shuts the big pocket doors to separate the Venom smell of those dead bodies (( SO - THINK - ABOUT - YOUR - CONTINUATION )) And think about it a continuation -- continuing war between the evil that lurks in that castle and with our Lord as the strength that we have to fight this evil thing .. ( there is so much to here to work with ) Well thanks again and please never stop that creative distorted mind of yours, and if we don't speak but we probably will have a very merry Christmas, ( A Happy Christmas , my friend ) ( because it's only a month away. ) ( The 1940s were the best of the best

Ok, I’ve been looking for this piece. It was my very first HorrorBabble, experiences. I listened to it and was well satisfied, because anything it The Carpathian’s region is just scary. Even James Michener, described it darkly, Then when I read the comment below, about headphones, I went out & bought a pair. The guy was right. Is creepy cool. The seemingly miasmal voice & pace, make it mesmerizing. Thanks for polishing this up, for we who listen close. You’re going to Hollywood, Ian & Jeniffer. 🎩🎩🎩🌹🌹🌹🌹❤️ Bravo

Do you think you might someday add captions to these? The auto-generated ones are a mangled mess, and I can't hear well enough to make out parts of the story (not the fault of the video, just my hearing has been wonky this year). I gave up a few minutes in because I don't want to ruin the effect for me if I can watch it decently later. (Speaking of captions, does any one know how - other than paying to have commercials removed - to get KZread to stop shutting them off every time they shove a commercial in there?)

We've added captions to a few recordings, but we're reluctant to do so in the main due to the numerous problems we've had with KZread over the years. We'll have to see how it goes. This recording in particular though was never meant to have captions accompanying it. That said, if enough people want 'em, we'll consider adding them in the future.

This is an amazing story and narration. The echo of the voice and sounds at the beginning set the tone. Then, the rain starts...... This story is so fitting over a roaring fire, pipe, and good scotch. You, my friend, are an excellent writer and narrator. I, for one, would sweep this sprawling manor in groups of no fewer than 10 people!
