Manor House Metal Detecting - Incredible Finds!
In this episode I have kindly been invited to do some Metal Detecting in the grounds of an old Manor House and farmstead which dates back to the Doomsday Book. This place was crammed full of history and I couldn't wait to see what could be found there, I wasn't disappointed !
Want to see what I found? Hit play and come along for the day as we soak up the sights and sounds of the beautiful English countryside and attempt to uncover lost treasure buried for centuries beneath our feet.

Thanks Bobby! Old manor sites always produce interesting finds. I always jump at the chance to do old pasture around houses as they can be very lucrative. Glad you liked the shots! Just need to master the close up focusing now 😂 👍👍
Loving that medal 😮

England on a beautiful day is like heaven on earth. Problem is, we only get about 3 of them a year 😂 Thanks for watching. ATB Michael 👍
I do particularly like the Vickie coins, here in Canada she was the first monarch on our dedicated coins ( from 1858) our large one cents used the young Vicky bust on a British half penny planchet, some were made at the Heaton mint in Birmingham under contract as Royal mint to busy doing other coins so I particularly like them. The medal is brilliant and made me think of Dr Watson ( Sherlock) as he served in Afghanistan😉

Well I did not know that Steve! That’s awesome. I hope you have found a few of those first issue ones. Yes I thought of doctor watson too. He likely had one exactly the same, so cool! ATB my friend 👍👍

Thanks Peter, very glad you enjoyed it. It was a superb day and hopefully going back there soon to discover more. ATB 👍👍
Would have loved to see the horse pendent cleaned. We Americans think 1800s coins are old and particularly like the 1860s because that is the time of our "civil war". Great day of detecting. Loved the background music.

I ended up giving that horse brass to the landowner as they were really interested in it but I agree Chuck, I’d love to have seen that cleaned up to as it had some great details left on it. Thanks for watching buddy 👍👍

It was a special find that for sure Calvin and a first for me. So much history can be told just by one small object. Thanks for watching 👍👍
Hi Michael, looks like a great permission. Lots of different finds. Of course the hammered coin and the two fused coin are a great find. I once found what was a lost roll of 1915 S Buffalo Nickels. They were a better date but they were lost in a paper coin tube and that’s how I found them. It looks like you will have allot of great hunting there… John

Man I’d love to find a lost roll of coins John, There is something about a roll of coins, I wish we did them like that over here! ATB 👍👍
Hi Micheal, great video again with some awesome finds. Would love to see the odd live dig but it's not a biggy. I can see that you put so much effort into these videos, I really appreciate all your efforts. Are you still using the Forager 2 programme? I'm having a great time using it, found my first hammered a few weeks back :)

Thanks Jason, glad you enjoyed it. So I’m currently using a new program which is soon to be released but I do still love forager. I will try and do another “detecting with forager” video soon. Good luck buddy 👍👍
Wow that Afghanistan medal is superb what a find and as you said, it should have the recipients name and number and regiment around the edge so that you could have done some research on it, what a shame it hasn't, but well done anyway it is excellent. All the best from Wendy and Jon in Derbyshire.

Hi Wendy and Jon 👋 thanks for watching! Someone commented on here that it is a miniature medal. Not sure what that means yet but they said it was the one you wore out to dinners so that you don’t have to haul the big one around. Still pretty cool though. ATB Michael 👍👍

@@OMA_MetalDetecting Yes they are probably correct about it being a miniature medal, we thought it looked small, and maybe that explains why it wasn't impressed/engraved around the edge, because they were also awarded to full size medal that would have their details around the edge. TBH it could be even rarer because we can't remember seeing any miniatures of the Afghanistan medal, and it is definitely made from silver. It is a fantastic find and we would love to find a Victorian medal like that. All the best Wendy and Jon
Hey bro! cool video... :) GLad to see you having fun :) Did you seen our jnew Roman video? Big support from your south European friends.. Happy hunting!!!

I’m working on that Jack, it annoys me too! I’m working with a very small screen so may have to invest in a bigger one. Thanks for your comment 👍👍
its a miniature for wearing on the best dress uniform for dinners or on tucks for dinner they dont have name and ranks on them as only the full size dose which would be the one awarded to the person
@OMA_MetalDetecting
Ай бұрын
Tom this makes so much sense!! I was looking at the ones with the engraving on and the band looked chunkier and now thanks to you I know why. So did they get awarded two? One for display and one to wear? I know nothing about this sort of thing. Thanks again 👍👍

@@OMA_MetalDetecting no we had to pay for the small ones ,and prove you had the right to have it , some times wearing a big medals would not look good so at times small one did not get in the way
I have a tudor manor for detecting, hardly ANY tudor coins bar one. However, I went to the next field from the same land and right at the back found a Roman. Gave it to the land owner and she nearly cried! I've been doing this land for years
