man, i very like rifles from the 1860s -1890s. They have a charm that's missing from modern rifle

What what Ive seen online when rifle are rechambered to a new cartridge, it makes the action a lot stiffer, since this is an original and not like the m95s often rechambered to 8x56r, it has a good action

I switched to 4831 (Ramshot Hunter) as I can use it for both my pet rounds, in long and short barrels. 40gr for jacketed 8x50r, and 37gr in 6.5 carcano. I switched to the .264 hornady interlock 140gr, and having great results in the old warbird. Still sticking to 5744 for my cast loads though. My Steyr chambers reformed 54r cases without trimming, but I found that I gain about 150fps, if I trim.

@@texascastblast5011 one thing I've learned from these 88/90's, is no two run the same. My main one, still has the 8x52r length chamber, so only the sights were modded on it. Try Ramshot X-Terminator, at some point. It's a hair faster than 4895, and often much cheaper/available. My chinese t53 mosin likes it. Magnum primers are an option too, if getting weak ignition in the cold.

@@charlene2400 I’ve noticed my 188/95 and one of my 95s have a tighter chamber than my 88/90s and my other 95, so I have to make ammo separate for them

@@texascastblast5011 yep, not done uniformly, so I've found. I might snag another at some point, as well as one of the "nicer" carcano carbines. Long as it's better than my beater 1917 one, which is great shooter, I'll be pleased.

What's your load data for the 8x50R? I've got an 88/90, an 88/95 and an M95 all chambered in that cartridge that I'm dying to take to the range.

It’s easy, 40gr of 4895 which gets mid 1800- and low 1900FPS with 208gr FMJ .330 or .329 SFT for hunting
