This man has been talking about Manimal for years. When I think of Manimal, I think of the Cinema Snob saying "Manimal" in a sarcastic tone. So it'll be nice to actually know what this is lol

MST3K also brought up Manimal alot, that's what made Brad my favorite when he started referencing it. 😂😂😂

I specifically think of the moment in the Jaws 3D Nostalgia Critic review "Actually... That guys from Manimal~"
FINALLY! After all the years of references you're finally doing THE MANIMAL! My hype levels can't be measured!
I have been aware of Manimal for many years through jokes and references but this is probably my first time actually seeing it.
14:35 ...I love that the snake quickly looked over and was like _"W-wha!?"_
It was only a matter of time since NCs review of Jaws 3 we would get reviews of this show from The Cinema Snob.
Ah I missed this show the first time around -- the curse of having only one television and parents that would rather watch Dallas. Thanks for the review Snob!

Believe that's one of the main reasons the show was canceled, the geniuses at the studio ran it opposite of Dallas, basically a death sentence for any new shows trying to find an foothokd audience back then
I've heard about this show for years but it was up against Dallas and I had no choice in the matter. I was so glad when I got my own TV.
I was so upset when they canceled this. I was 12, and Simon McCorkindale's character was like the supernatural version of Remington Steele.

Well, there's always Street Hawk and Beastmaster to look forward to!
The popularity of Manimal in France cannot be over-stated. The mid to late 80s were a neverending cycle of Manimal reruns--spliced with reruns of V, of course. One thing that never made sense to me is why Chase's hands turn into the hawk's feet during the transformation sequence that they keep using and re-using throughout the series. This show's understanding of bird anatomy is... peculiar.
Ok, the line about our secret panther army had me dying of laughter
My hype is through the roof, not only because you're doing Manimal, but also because I'm super-excited for that Night Man appearance!
The 80s was such a fun time for television

I have never hit the notification with a joyous "I KNEW IT!" so quickly.
Technically, he wasn;t born with the ability to turn into animals, he was an animal expert who studied the ability to do it.
Only 8 episodes? I've got strong memories of this from my childhood here in the UK

Can't say I remember the actual show. I do remember folding my fingers down and pretending I could turn into a panther quite well though.

Considering how short british shows tend to be. I guess 8 episodes was long enough to be remembered. :)

"Ah, this is going to be excruciatingly painful, more pain than you've ever felt." "Well you weren't around me when I heard they cancelled "Manimal."" Whoever gets this reference we should be friends.
"The show comes from Glen A. Larson, the creator of..." EVERY single show in 70 and 80s!
Manimal was such a hit in France, with multiple reruns of the few episodes you could think it was 3 seasons ! Cheers from France
Wow. This is like a gift I didn't know I was waiting for! All these people who referenced Manimal from back in the day for all these years finally pays off!!!
This may be my favorite Snob episode ever! I LIVED for Manimal and remember being so upset that it just disappeared out of nowhere. GIVE ME MOAR. All the episodes AND a supercut! 😆😆😆 “YOU IN DANGER, GIRL!”
I've only seen bits of this series when "Sci-Fi Channel" (pre-SyFy) was doing "Sci-Fi World", this would be part of their "Creature Land" which would run on Tuesdays. I also remember your Top 10 "Manimal" moments. I will say, the transformation scenes with the Hawk and Panther are really top notch, the fact that a young Stan Winston worked on these effects really ups this show's enjoyment.
The show may have moved out of a dark corner of a basement and the format has become more than snarky 10 minute reviews but manimal has remained.
Rectification: Jonathan was not born with this ability, he learnt it from natives in a jungle. I know the 8 episodes by heart, 40 years after I saw them. Loved this series.

RIP, MacCorkindale. He was excellent in everything he did, no matter the quality of the script. Quatermass is a must-see.
So happy to see we're starting this series - feels like a fun throwback to the early Snob days. Speaking of, any chance we could see a reupload of your old Top Ten Manimal Moments video?
😆🤣It's funny you decided to talk about Manimal, Brad. I just got the complete series recently from Calgary's Comic Expo here in Alberta. I've been meaning to check it out ever since you introduced it in the Jaws 3-D review.
I still remember and revisit Nostalgia Critic's review of Jaws 3 with your delightful cameos where you talk about Manimal.
Hell yeah. I watched this every week when I was a kid. Absolutely loved it.
This is gonna be fun! One of the immediate go to thoughts when you think of niche 80s shows that lasted shorter than you remember😂 Irving's Zoo also covered the series episode by episode for those who are interested in more Manimal from a diff perspective! 🙂
Now all I need is for Snob to do Condorman and the Automan series and my hazy, half remembered childhood memories will be complete.
I watched the pilot movie on UK TV as a kid and loved it. Never saw the rest of the series, though, so looking forward to the rest of your episodes! Nobody else seemed to know about it over here - when I described it to people they thought it was some kind of fever dream!
This is one of those high concept shows that sounds too bizzare to be real, but is actually quite good when you watch it. It's only drawback was with the special effects at the time they really couldn't make use of the he can turn into any animal thing. Like I think in the kung fu episode where a bunch of martial artists tried to jump him only to find a bull.
*HE'S FINALLY DOIN' IT.*
Imagine if this show got a reboot series, lol.
It almost feels like a new beginning on the channel. It's like 80s Dan is back. Lol
Me and my brothers loved this show as kids. Watching this I’m guessing we just liked the idea because it looks like a routine cop show with animals shoehorned in.
Imagine how excited France would've been if Jerry Lewis would've done an episode.
This looks like a pip of a series. I know McCorkindale from 1978's "Death on the Nile". Glad to see he's just as charming here.
Manimal was a big hit in Mexico, it was aired for so long that you could think it has several seasons. Funny fact, there is an episode wher the Doctor rescue a girl raised by Wolves, the producers i believe just took the scrip as it was and used for an episode of theseries The Wizard where a midget who built toys solved crimes, and you could see many scenes get all weird for the phisical difference of the characters.
I was probably the only person who saw all 8 episodes as an impressionable 12 year old who didn't have access to any CBS stations. Life before cable was no joke.
From one classic to another
I had a feeling you'd be getting to talking about Manimal since you ended your Tequila & Bonetti episode reviews. It was either this or My Mother the Car, which you teased back in your Hitler's Harlot review.
Yeah Now we doing Manimal
I am psyched for this series!
I was really little when this was on, but it made my day!
I knew you'd talk about this eventually, it's right up your alley!
20:33 He probably transitioned directly from mouse to goldfish to shark in order to sneak up better. And yes, what you showed reads to me like he ate the man.

I actually went and found the show online after your recommendation of it and I loved every second of it. 😁👍
Man I remember seeing a few episodes in the 90s
Love that lion king joke
Weren't there only like 3 or 4 episodes of this show released? gotta stretch THAT out to several years also, looking forward to the next episode!
Whoa! Beast Boy's Dad kicks ass! And is sooo smooth.
This was awesome < funny and great
Havnt watch the episode yet but I LOVE that you are doing TV shows now! I think your style really lends itself to hilariously awful stuff like this. You should have known when the Lone Star 911 bit took off that this was your calling!
Damm it, my Dad went to 'nam and all I got out of agent orange exposure was hip dysplasia, malformed organs and missing a chromosome, and this guy went and gets to turn in to animals!
Im looking forward to this new series
Never heard of it. Thank you for the video.
I f****ng loved this show as a kid! Remake stuff like that, not stuff that is barely a dekade old!
If he turns into a shark it should have been called Manphibian.
More episodes!!!
Damn, man. You caught me just as I was about to watch Manimal for the first time
Absolutely loved this when it first came out in the UK. 😂.
Greatest episode ever
You have chosen a great next series.
Manimal was a big deal in the UK on both its original & repeat BBC screening then 5 years later when shown late at night on ITV, it got good ratings each time & surprisingly for a US Adventure Fantasy the UK critics seemed to enjoy it also. It always seems to surprise ppl when i tell them there were just 8 episodes, in true Mandela Effect style, people seem to remember it running for a long time
French person here ! We sure love our Manimal !
Hey, that's Poppy from Seinfeld🤣🤣🤣
I was 12 at the time of the series. I loved it and watched every episode. 🐈⬛
So what's next after this? Animorphs? Dog With A Blog? Hopefully not!
A little Batman trivia for anyone in the comments. Lloyd Bochner (the villain in the Manimal pilot) would later provide the voice for Mayor Hamilton Hill in the Batman Animated Series.

It stuck with me for the better part of 40 years too and I think it does. It is very much of its time, but if can enjoy things for what they are - rather than find fault in what they're not - I'd recommend giving it a go.
I have always heard about this show, but never seen it.
New Snob 👍
You bastard! You finally did it.
RAWR! Manimal.
Wait, Manimal appeared on Nightman!? Nightman, part of the Ultraverse, which is owned by Marvel and part of their multiverse. ... Manimal is part of the MCU.
I have the complete series of this show on DVD
Hope this starts a new sub-channel by Brad, i would love to see him do Firefly and Nightman.
Watched this show as a kid.
Cool show when it first aired.
I've been wanting you to spotlight this show since you brought it up in that cameo in the Nostalgia Critic review of Jaws 3...how long ago was that?
Ursula Andress in Mountain of the Cannibal God is the finest performance in the genuinely disturbing-and HORNY-Italian cannibal flick of all time.
I think I mainly know of Manimal by way of a Robot Chicken sketch, about why he would turn into a horse (wink wink, nudge nudge). Man, hour-long TV shows from the 70's-mid-'90's (the pre-Whedon years) did some crazy stuff that most shows now don't do. In the words of MovieBob: TV! IS! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRD!!!
So, why a black panther as a preferred shape? With slow transformations it's not a bad blend of power, stealth, and senses. But it's not exactly innocuous in a city. For stealth an insect or housecat seems like a better call.
Please tell me you’ll also cover the Nightman episode with Manimal in it?
Michael Jackson as Manimal was indeed very strange for a minute there in 1991.
Brad, 2 words. Human Centipede! Get on it brother!
This was must see tv for ten year old me.
9 year old me defiantly remembers this show 🤣🤣🤣
YEAH! MANIMAL! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
