The tunnel boring machines of the Manila Subway Project have already been set-up at the subway’s depot in Valenzuela City. Thus the start of the tunnel drilling is set to be done anytime soon.
A total of 25 tunnel boring machines will be used to dig underground tunnels that will connect the subway’s 17 stations from Valenzuela City to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
Partial operability of the Metro Manila Subway is expected to start in 2025, and will be fully operational in 2027.
With a project cost of P488.48 billion pesos; the underground railway system, once opened, is expected to accommodate up to 370,000 passengers per day, with a capacity of up to 1 million passengers per day over the next decades.
