MANILA Chinese Cemetery (Cementerío para chinos), luxurious tombs

Manila Chinese Cemetery (Cementerío para chinos), City of Manila, Philippines - the stunning Manila Chinese Cemetery (Cementerío para chinos). Let's go inside the tombs of the Manila Chinese Cemetery located in the outskirts of Manila in the Philippines. The Manila Chinese Cemetery cemetery includes the world's biggest tombs for the wealthy Chinese people and the tombs include grills, toilets and other amenities for the families of the deceased.
The Manila Chinese Cemetery ('Overseas Chinese Cemetery'; Spanish: Cementerío para chinos) is the second oldest cemetery in Manila after La Loma Cemetery. The Manila Chinese Cemetery cemetery includes Christian, Buddhist and Taoist burials. The present-day cemetery is a vaguely trapezoidal area of about 54 hectares with an irregular network of roads its old pre-war part along Rizal Avenue Extension, reflecting its gradual evolution and expansion.
Manila, the capital of the Philippines, is a densely populated bayside city on the island of Luzon, which mixes Spanish colonial architecture with modern skyscrapers. Intramuros, a walled city in colonial times, is the heart of Old Manila. It’s home to the baroque 16th-century San Agustin Church as well as Fort Santiago, a storied citadel and former military prison.

I have been inside this cemetery. I was given a personal tour (by the caretaker) of the the man who started the Bank of Manila. Behind the two sarcophagus (husband and his wife), is a family room with kitchen and bathroom. Friends and family of the deceased come and socialize. Right across from this tomb is a Chinese/Australian' tomb is a small replica of the Australia's Sydney Opera House. He and his wife are buried inside that tomb/home. The entrance to this cemetery is guarded by Philippine Marines w/rifes.

Vic, the metal drums in the tombs are not for BBQing, but for burning joss paper. That's why you see them in every tomb.

I hate to say it but these buildings look more like bug out locations for a family. I guess it's someplace to go if the family has to suddenly flee mainland China. I wouldn't doubt if there's currencies from different countries, maybe even some gold, jewels or silver for the family to live off of.

Their ancestors fled China ages ago during the Ming or Qing Dynasty. They came to the Philippines as small traders, peasants or coolies who made their "gold, silver and jewels" through diligence, thrift, saving for rainy days and planning for the future. Their descendants have already assimilated into the Filipino society, adopting Filipino names, speaking Tagalog, many having embraced Catholicism. They've established themselves in all major sectors- economy, politics, military, police, judiciary and religion. The Philippines Airlines and Bank of Manila were founded by the Filipino-Chinese. Former presidents Ferdinand Marcos and Corazon Aquino were ethnic Chinese. Rafael Montiano Lim was an ordained bishop. Vicente Lim was a Filipino brigadier general and World War II hero. Alfredo Lim Jr. was police officer who served as a Senator and Mayor of Manila. A well-connected judge, Ferdinand Chua, played an important role in Marcos' early life. Chinoys are among the top ten richest men and the Cojuancos is one of the three most powerful families in the Philippines.

No. The amenities are for the family that pay they respects. We have a mausoleum there and on the 1st of November. We are expected to stay there for the whole day. Hence the toilet, the second floor, the tiny kitchenette and mahjong tables lol. Now I assume some have brought tvs with gaming consoles. 😂😂😂
