Really enjoyed this, just like I teach it. There's other extremely competent instructors on KZread who always set themselves up for the easy berth, without explaining the challenges if the wind/tide isn't in your favour. So when novices follow their guidance, they'll get caught out very soon. I'm going to take a look at your other posts. Good job!

Really enjoying these videos mate. very easy to follow with the dual camera angles. Was out practicing some of this stuff in my own boat the other day. Seems like a good sense of timing is critical with some of these manoeuvres

Would be cool to see some 1st person perspectcive videos to see how it looks from the seat aswell. Rlly learning alot from ur vids. Keep up the good work👍🏻

Hi, thanks for sharing you knowledge which is very useful and wish my marina here in the UK had as much space as yours. I have a 5.2m boat with a V hull and cuddy, which catches the wind, which I find very difficult to manoeuvre in my marina which has about 8m behind my berth. Any advice / thoughts on handling a small single engine boat with no bow thruster would be useful ? Cheers Bob

I just bought a brand new boat that I have very little control over in reverse in wind or current. I was not aware of this before I bought it. I have no confidence in the boat at this point. Have you ever heard of this? I don't see much about it on line but I do see that it exists. Are you aware of any instructional videos on this topic? Thanks

All planing hulls of this kind are unstable while going astern. I somewhat doubt that swinging the bow into the wind as seen on this video would work in higher than a moderate breeze. When I tested this last season I could not make the bow swing upwind. I did not test higher than dead slow astern. I will try that next season but I'm not keeping my hopes high. It just dragged the bow so far downwind that I am not able rightly to apprehend how even full astern would fix that.

@@satunnainenkatselija4478 thanks for the input and I'm sure you are correct. I think it's the nature of the beast and I'm gonna need more seat time to gain confidence

Like your videos but pls go back to landscape filming. Portrait mode doesn’t work on a tv whereas a phone can be flipped round to accept either.

you only got half the boat in the mooring 🙂
