Oh C'mon, Craig was a very smart guy and an entertaining interviewer. He's simply playing the role he invented for himself. For sure, Mandy was very smart and mature, especially for a 16 year old. But no need to dump on Mr. Ferguson.

She was lumped in with the others because she (and her style) was contemporary with them, but I agree that she was always different from them, even back at the time of this interview. Notice how she said she prefers unplugged performances over the synth heavy studio backing tracks.

She is 16 here? Oh my goodness, she looks so mature. Great woman.

I can't decide whether I like blonde or brunette Mandy better. I'm not picky, but when she went brown haired in 2001/2002, I thought she looked so hot.

1:36 "So growing up, you didn't buy a lot of Barbie dolls?" Ridiculous question. Why on earth would a Barbie Doll buy a Barbie doll? Mandy was so cute yet so mature for her age in 2000. I think this, and good parenting, was what helped keep her grounded through the tumultuous show biz world during these impressionable years. Too bad her marriage to Ryan Adams is on the rocks. I sense she wants a normal married life now that she's hit 30, and she may have believed she found with it someone like Ryan who, on first glance would look like her perfect soulmate. But five years going from 25 to 30 really is a "lifetime" for an older girl maturing into a younger woman, and I think her expectations probably took a 180-degree turnabout during this time. Ryan seems to be taking this divorce hard so I think it was more Mandy's decision than a 50-50 mutual agreement to split. Well, she's a lovely talented woman and I hope she finds the right guy before she finds herself 40, alone and childless. I don't think that's any kind of life for her, IMHO, of course.

I thinnk that would be hilarious if we saw her driving around listening to candy! hahaha.

Oh my goodness her song I wanna be with you 😂❤ I remember being young and crying over my crush. Such a nolstagic song for me and a couple old friends who cried w me listening to it lmao…. she’s gone so far w her career, proud of her!

I still don't understand why Britney/Christina/Jessica and Mandy received SO MUCH flak for selling sex when they really didn't. Their videos were definitely on the sexy side, but it was fairly tame and suitable for their ages. On top that, this interview is from 2000 so that was prior to the release of REALLY sexy albums like 'Stripped,' and 'In the Zone,' which were a lot more mature - but that reflected the girls' transition into young adults. I really don't get the host's attitude lol.

I agree. The sexiness was subtle and ambiguous. It wasn't until Britney's self-titled in 2001 that the sexiness was more in-your-face. Also, Mandy has a point. At the time of this interview, Britney was 18, Christina 19, and Jessica Simpson 20. Being sexy at 18+ is more acceptable than 16, because of the legal age of consent (at least in the USA).

Letterman is not in this video, that is Craig Kilborn. Really? No one knew that? He hosted the show that comes on after Letterman's (they just got yet another new host) from the very late 90's 'til I think 2004. He's a good 10-15 years younger than Dave, blonde, no gap in his teeth.... otherwise, totally twins! ;0)

Mandy is a natural brunette, as is Britney, Christina, and Jessica. They all bleached their hair blonde because that was what style was in at the time. It still is, but they were all brown haired before they were famous, and switched back to dark hair years after their mainstream breakout.

She doesn't like her natural hair color so she dyes it constantly. She cringes when she sees herself in her natural blonde hair. She doesn't like being compared to Britney and Jessica, I will be embarrassed too. Britney and Jessica are not even blondes lol. Christina is a sandy/dirty blonde as well as Mandy, I saw Christina's VH1 interview back in the day when she was a kid.

That will be Craig Kilborn. I admit I was a fan of his show for a while. But during the later saesons of his show he became less funny and more arrogant. Than I stop watching his show. But I admit during the Daily Show and the beginning of his Late Late Show he was awesomely funny.

Blond Thought well she has 2 original albums. first one is called "wild hope"(2007), second one is called "Amanda Leigh"(2009). i recommend the 2nd one (Amanda Leigh) because she's more confident and polished there and you can feel it in the songs which convey her feelings better and are more energetic too. The first one is a bit more "serious" which i would attribute to the fact it was the first time you feel she's really doing her own style, it's also more feminine i think, so it's less suitable for my style since i'm a guy. Enjoy listening, i hope you'll like it and feel free to write back your thoughts, i'd be curious to hear them. p.s there's an early album (2003) where she does very good covers if you like her voice which i really enjoy called "coverage".

nyuki187 "Amanda Leigh" is more polished, I agree, based on only hearing the single "I Could Break Your Heart Any Day Of The Week". I skim listened to "Wild Hope" on KZread. It sounded like (early) Taylor Swift style music. Very acoustic/folksy, but with Mandy's voice. I think I like that one better.

Watches this: Who's this blonde gal Now: By god Mandy Moore looks unrecognisable now. Ditched the blonde hair for brunette. Yup she was born to play Rapunzel in Tangled.
