Manchester Trams (Metrolink) September 2019

Welcome back to Mixed Gauge Videos. In this video we are in the North West of England in the great working class city of Manchester. This video takes a lineside look at a few parts of the city's tram system, which has been in operation since April 1992 and now has around 93 stops/stations and 100 kms / 62 miles of routes across 7 lines.
Our video opens with scenes looking into Manchester Victoria railway station and watching the trams come and go. We later look at Manchester Piccadilly, Exchange Square, and the Ashton district.
Tune in to my channel every Friday for a look at trains, trams, planes, buses, or ships somewhere in either the UK or Australia. Remember: Subscribers see things first, so hit the Subscribe button, click "All Notifications" and check your email account!!!

I grew up with preserved trams in Sydney and regular trams in Melbourne. The museum in Sydney didn't have the trams to couple together until around 10 years ago, and Melbourne has always been a one-car operation. Manchester i son e of the few systems I've seen where coupled sets are common.

I use a smallish Sony Handicam, mostly hand-held to allow for ease of operation. Videos are recorded in HD and processed using Adobe Premier. The editing can be a slow process, especially when I have to research everywhere I've been, but it creates a good video in the end. Thanks for watching! 🙂
