Manchester......the new London?
I check out Manchester to see if it's any good. I see some old roman ruins, a prison, ace bars and even better buildings! Manchester has it all!

2:18 The Old Wellington certainly has a massive history. It used to sit across the street in the old Shambles Square since 1552 but was moved brick by brick around 1996 when that part of Manchester was redeveloped
You found the Roman wall! 😃 I go to Manchester for fun quite often, from Victoria Station, either walk around the centre, or take the tramway to Media City. Both areas have a Bella Italia 😋, and finding a pizza in the UK which deserves the name is quite rare. The library is worth visiting, too, alone for the building inside, and then there's the house where Emmeline Pankhurst lived. If I want to stay overnight I'd be at the Ibis Budget at Salford Quais. Manchester is to this day the only city in the UK I actually like.

Good work Danny, you said the magic words 'hidden gems'. As a proud Mancunian I really value my home town, its rich in culture, history and entertainment. You can relax on grassed areas, at bars or go to the cinema etc. We do have our fair share of the grim side of life too but when you look at this it's a wow. There is just one thing out of place though.. its usually absolutely buzzin with people! Where the hell are they...

Manchester has some awesome classic architecture, with some of my favourites being the red-brick Victorian masterpieces scattered around. Central Libray is certainly impressive from the outside, but take a look at John Rylands which is mind-blowing inside.

i live in manchester originally from near newcastle and lived in leicester and birmingham as well. Manchester is a great city very openminded people and very cool vibe (music & art etc). However its getting very expensive and is going the way of london people are getting priced out with regards to rental prices etc
Amazing City..unbelievable change in last 15 years

Locals can’t afford to buy or rent the apartments they have built apart from Londoners and south twats that’s moving there. London is a shithole so why do the same to Manchester
I like Manchester, but don't forget Norwich. I live in the Norfolk Broads, and Norwich has an amazing Viking history, and more medieval buildings than any other city in the Divided Kingdom.
Definitely one on my favourite cities and I go back in a couple of weeks. Glasgow is a close second. I live in London which is cool but far too big!! 👍🏻😀
Some great places, not a fan of Spinningfields, on a grey day, we have many 😊 it blends in with the sky, like some colour.

I stayed in that hotel years ago (worst rated in Manchester) for a weekend. The bar (that has a back entrance) was rowdy and they had bouncers at the main entrance too but everything else was fine.
Manchester at one time in history was one of the most wealthiest places in the entire world. So it seems that it is not so much being developed, than it is being restored. The notorious Don Arden, music mogul and father/in law of Sharon and Ozzy Osborne was born on the street you were walking down near the prison.
I’m from Manchester Sale. You will have to visit pubs in Alderley edge to show people how beautiful the place is.
That first building was the Gordon Ramsey restaurant. I like all the architecture in Manchester, I just hate driving in and out of it.

There’s always an argument for councils and developers NOT no invest in town centres, lack of foot fall, lack of interest from companies and brands in leasing buildings. No point pumping millions into an area where it’s not going to make money. One day when the country sacks off Amazon and the like then we may see the so called high street making a return, but I doubt it.
The 'grim hotel' near the start of your video is I believe scheduled to be demolished and replaced by something much better in the near future.

The tallest building ever built in regional Britain will be built next to Deansgate/Castlefield Met station. It will be just shy of 80 storeys high. These huge structures are being announced almost weekly now. The race with London is now on. Devolution has transformed Greater Manchester.

England needs a rival to London rather than everything being sucked down south. We aren't the big USA with multiple great Cities but we should promote Manchester so that it is as near prestigious and attractive as London. When I say "attractive" I mean more than the environment but as attractive for artists, software designers, and large corporation head quarters.

Manchester is a nice city but a lot of the areas to live are not up to much. You have Didsbury and may be parts of Altrincham and somewhere like Ramsbottom but a lot of the other areas are quite rough. The homeless are quite an issue as well, there's a lot of them and they can be quite rough. Nice to visit but not worth living there.
