I think it's quite "easy" to see what's the issues are. We need to fix our defence. Play akanji stones, dias and ake. Stop playing Alvarez like a midfielder, he's not. And then Pep needs to realize that Foden should play in the middle. When him and Kevin are on the ball we win games. Doku had more touches than them and we can't rely on Jeremy. He's young and he needs time to work on his end product. It's time to go back to what we know will work and end this experiment. Julian is not a midfielder, he's a class striker and we need to use him in a position where we can get an advantage of having a player like him. Even a false 9 that drops deep is alright. Imo - Play Kova instead of Alvarez and maybe try Bobb (until Jack is fit) lw and bernardo rw.. I think Haaland will be back on fire when the rest of the team clicks 🔥 Hopefully tomorrow!

You are the wisest Manchester City fan I’ve come across. Those are same things I wanted pep to do. I did not want Foden playing wing again. Doku is just awful. Oscar is way better than him. And Kyle walker should not be in starting 11. These mistakes are all pep’s doing. And I’m sure he will cost you another major trophy.

Pep needs to fix our defense or else we’ll lose the title 😡we can’t be conceding goals that easy Foden to midfield

Conceding goals because akanji should not be playing John stones role. Akanji should be in RB, CB Stones Dias and LB Ake. Just like last season. That back 4 won the Treble. Kyle walker need to be benched. Him and Doku are the dumbest players in the team.

TY Steve, spot on dood. Chelseas transitions were electric (its our only NEMESIS) and we werent great. Fark the spoiled children on X. Happy w/ point in the end. I like Alvarez but "man down in MF" when he plays, yes. It was fine when he was findiong back of the net but he's form on that front been terrible. I cant believe we are asking is Pep shoe-horning him in.(help us understand GAFFA??) I hope he goes back to the Copenhagen team, much more balanced, controlled. UP DA BLUES!

Great atmosphere. We didnt seserve the win. The referee was absolutely horrendous. 4 mins extra time was takin the mick. My son had photo with you in Copenhagen so msssive thanks for that Steve . Top man.

I feel this is like the forest game last season, wasted so many chances and should’ve won the game but there’s still a long way to go. No need to panic 👍🏻

If Haaland's head isn't in the right place, then he shouldn't play, he should say something to pep. Like most of us, we would take time off work if we have just lost a close member of the family. Erling take a break 👍

Been waiting for this, very cathartic big Steve. Was definitely one of those games. Maybe just take the point and move on to Tuesday. I think alvarez and akanji looked out of position on sat. Especially against their midfield. Haaland is haaland, misses quite a few chances, definitely needs to work on his heading. But he's alright for me. Have to disagree on the hand ball. He had a handful of our players shirt. If he doesn't do that then maybe the ball.doesnt hit his hand. That's given as a pen at anfield, probably the walker / sterling coming together too. But we'd have probably missed the pen anyway. You're right about Rodri, he's a collosus out there. Still 14 games to go.

I still believe city will win the PL the only concern I have is that we’ve been conceding too much from mistakes here and there and attack should improve a bit. Not a huge fan of Alvarez and Akanji in midfield but I believe this will just be a minor blimp before city do their comeback and win

Some of the CFC chances would have been ruled offside. Whoever squared to Sterling was offside before Ederson saved and needed to save again from Chilwell.

Pep thinks that all his players should be able to play in any position. Obviously with some reservations. But the message from some of the fans is-play players in their usual positions or best positions. Akanji wasn't. Julian isn't. Phil isn't. Gvardiol is a CB, not a left back. Walker is not an attacking wing back. Bernado is not a left back as he was in the first half at he Emirates last season. If Pep just swapped Phil and Julian, that should be an improvement. Julian can play on the right but not behind Erling. Jeremy can play on either wing and seems to be more right footed than left. And I also think that if City are playing a team with excellent attackers, we cannot afford to keep losing the ball on the left wing.and need more control. All is far from lost. Lots of games left.

Pep is just keeping the lads fresh ready for the business end.....I think he thought we'd get away with a makeshift midfield against Chelsea and we almost did but hey ho, decent point for me we didn't play on the day. No harm done and we need to trust in Pep and these lads. Spot on about Grealish as well we need him back, he creates so many different angles and picks the right passes whereas at the moment Doku is learning. Great video Ste 👍💙

Also, Akanji and Alvarez are not midfielders and we need to stop that. I can understand if he plays behind Haaland but only if you have Rodri-Kovacic behind them for control. We cannot have KDB, Foden, Alvarez all playing the same position and only Rodri battling for his life alone in the middle. Akanji is not a midfielder, he cannot do that period, Pep realized that with Kyle and I hope he realizes it with Akanji too.

I do think it's rather unfair to criticise a player, when they're being asked to play out of position. So disrespectful to have a go at Alvarez now KDB is back, when for months he's covered that spot & held it together. But Pep knows

Appreciate the positivity Ste. That said, I think the issues we’ve been seeing are all Pep - defensive backs playing as wingbacks, inverting Akanji when Stones was on the bench, forcing Alvarez into midfield at the cost of Foden being pushed out wide (he needs to be in the midfield as he’s so creative and is being wasted on the wings). We have the same defensive personnel as last year and yet we’re conceding a lot more goals and it’s down to the tactics. Pep, please stop with this tomfoolery and let’s play how we did last year with minor tweaks that are fruitful like Foden in the midfield and Alvarez out of it The margin for error is getting so narrow

Think we’re missing Gundogan’s influence of the game. Not just in attack but defensively too. Think him not being there is pushing Rodri further up the pitch trying to create/score which is leaving us more exposed at the back. Conceding easy goals is also piling pressure on us scoring and that’s maybe why we’re snatching at chances more. Pep’ll sort it. If not give Tony Pulis a bell 😂😂 🩵🤍

We have to get Foden back into the midfield and John Stones also against Brentford. I don't like this Alvarez and Akanji experiment. There isn't enough time for mistakes at the moment we need to be perfect to win this league

Apparently he is not the “complete striker” - 52 goals since he joined us not enough of a contribution according to some and Goater, Dickov and Kevin Phillips were all better strikers. Doku has to start passing the ball simple as that Kyle hasn't been the same since this about him and his wife ake who tackled well but got exposed down that left hand side the defence has got to look at themselves last season we had the best defence in Europe this season is completely different dias making mistakes as well but will we sort it out yeah we always do but Chelsea wasnt good enough akanji as well was poor

I have no worries about City. I like all the negatives from pundits and Arsenal fans claiming their the best team in the league. All that just gives determination to our boys in blue.

I'm sick of the fair weather fans all over face book having a go at the team and Pep for the Chelsea result, I've been a fan since the early 70s so have gone through the good, bad, very bad and good again, and at times laughed at how bad we were especially when freezing and wet at the likes of Halifax away , but always got behind the team, these new fans need to learn to take the rough with the smooth or fxck off back to where they came because we don't need them. Why on earth do they think the song starting " we never win at home and we never win away " comes from.

how do feel best to get alvarez in the team given he's such a talent and obviously has 2 of the best players in the world in positions he can play

Hi steve, i was thinking about our season as whole and what I understand is we can no blame our defence. It was almost the same except walker but it was not the issue. The issue we are facing now is we don’t have that control in the midfield like Rodri, gundo, stones and Silva did it in our treble season. Literally Rodri and Silva left. Kovacic is not consistent and good enough like gundo, akanji is not stones at all. So when debryune , haaland , foden and Alvarez push forward it is too much for Rodri and Silva to handle resulting gaps in between oru mid and def. I am worried when we face Liverpool, arsenal and real madrid. I’m not confident about city winning title until pep find something

This is not a fair comment about Doku. He made lots of good crosses into the box, but the chances were not taken by Haaland. Why are we blaming Doku so much? Foden. Alvarez, Haaland and even KDB were all terrible. Why is Doku getting rhe stick?

Bra Steve, I hear you on Haaland and I agree with you to a certain degree.. but its hard to accept the level of performance from the strikers if they misses all the chances that come their way, especially if margins for error are this thin.. now we are faced with a situation where we watched our chance to win something this season vanish right in front of our eyes.. I think Liverpool and Arsenal will steam roll us with ease, we are weak defensively and we are not sharp upfront..
