Gimbal Walk TV presents a Manchester Walking Tour around the city centre. For this one I thought we would explore Piccadilly Gardens, Portland Street, Chorlton Street, Bloom Street and Canal Street on the way to Manchester Piccadilly Station.
Manchester is a major city in England, situated in Greater Manchester in the North West and close to cities like LIverpool and Sheffield.
Manchester City Centre is a busy thriving positive place to be with lots of things to do and see, lots of tourist attractions and other things that makes it worthwhile to travel to Manchester for a visit.
Tourism is a big part of Manchester these days and it's becoming more and more popular to take a trip to Manchester City Centre to enjoy the shopping or have a day out wandering the streets and exploring the history of the city.
Manchester City Centre is the central business district of Manchester in North West England, within the boundaries of Trinity Way, Great Ancoats Street and Whitworth Street.
Piccadilly Gardens is the central hub of Manchester's public transport system. It has a major transport interchange offering easy access to a number of buses and trams to help make your journey to and from the city centre quick and easy. Ice creams are sold in the surrounding shops and restaurants.
Shopping in Manchester
Visitors travel from all over the world to shop in Manchester and it’s easy to see why.
Shopping centres such as Manchester Arndale and The Trafford Centre as well as high street destinations such as Exchange Square and Market Street offer an unrivalled selection of international brands combined with the best of British at department stores like John Lewis, Selfridges, House of Fraser and Marks and Spencer.
Manchester city centre is the commercial and geographic heart of Greater Manchester, and with the adjoining parts of Salford and Trafford, is defined as Greater Manchester's "Regional Centre" for purposes of urban planning and public transport.
The station itself is VERY safe as it's heavily policed and always busy. However outside the station particularly towards Piccadilly Gardens isn't safe at night and even requires caution in the day
"Piccadilly Gardens has become a horrible place, it has become heaven for drug dealers. "There's been so much knife crime, it's really scary, and it's all related to the drugs because the gangs are fighting for their territory.

So to my home City of origin. Cheeky memory from me is that there used to be underground toilets in Picaddilly gardens to my memory and some bright spark had once got hold of a template of a foot step and then painted steps in white from Victorias plynth across the pavement and down the steps to the Ladies. Just to guide her of course.. Anyone remember that one, don't think they lasted long, boring council?
I used to know city centre Manchester well in the 1960/70s. It is unrecognisable now to the town that I knew and looks a lot better now. 👍

I used to visit Manchester quite often on a Saturday. Always parked near Beetham Tower and walked down Deansgate to the city centre.

Thanks Mick, not seen that Tower before, great piece of modern architecture. I used to get a tram from Altrincham to St Peter's Square when I worked there for a week 😁✔💯👍

Great walk around my home town ^_^ I bought a studio hardware sampler from Dawsons back in the day (mid 90's) still have it to this day! Hope you enjoyed your stay in Manchester and keep on walking ^_^

The Britannia hotel is a great looking building, both inside and out, not that great to stay at. Not stayed in many hotels with bouncers on the door.
