Arges Monastery - the first part
🇷🇴 În 1512-14, Neagoe Basarab a construit o biserică episcopală pe locul unei biserici construite în secolul al XV-lea de Vlad Țepeș. Prințul Țării Românești. Biserica a fost sfințită în 1517, în prezența Patriarhului Constantinopolului și a altor ierarhi ortodocși din țări străine.
Picturile au fost pictate de Dobromir în 1526. Ulterior, biserica și turnul de poartă au fost renovate de prințul Matei Basarab și prințul Șerban Cantacuzino. Manastirea Argesului a fost distrusă la cutremurele din 1802 și 1838 și apoi la un incendiu din 1867. La inițiativa regelui Carol 1, biserica a fost restaurată în 1875-86 de către arhitectul Lecomte du Nko (care a făcut modificări, înlocuiri și adăugiri) și pictat de fratele acestuia (păstrând doar câteva fragmente din picturile din secolul al XVI-lea).
Manastirea Argesului este legată de Balada Mesterului Manole, care a ridicat o biserică "ca niciuna" pentru Negru Voda, o clădire care impunea sacrificarea frumoasei sale soții, in zidurile fundatiei...

In 1512-14, Neagoe Basarab built an Episcopal church on the site of a church built in the 15th century by Vlad the Impaler. Prince of the Romanian Land. Carol, I visited the site on a number of occasions and took a close interest in the progress of the restoration work. The church is connected to the legend of master Manole, who erected a church "like no other" for Negru Voda, a building which required the sacrifice of his beautiful wife, who was walled into the foundations.
