This is my favorite trilogy!!! Morricone's music alone makes them worthwhile! I love them! I watch them all in one once a year. They are wonderful movies!

These films bring back great memories of being allowed to stay up late (sometimes even on school nights), watching these movies with my Dad. 👍

My dad’s favorite movie is The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. My favorite movie is The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. Every time I see a really good movie, I ask myself whether it is better than The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. The answer is no.

Great movies made even better by the music, and the Trinity Brother movies were a lot of fun.

Perfect review. 2 Good movies and a great movie. Eli Wallach is under rated and great as "the Ugly". My youngest daughter watched The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly when she was 10. Yes she loves westerns to this day. It's her ringtone as well.

The second one is my favorite. You can see Leone getting more and more ambitious with each one. Once Upon A Time in the West would be even more elaborate than GB&U.

For me, Good The Bad and The Ugly holds up best of Leone's westerns. good pace, interesting plot, dialogue, etc.

Once Upon A Time in the West benefits from actually being shot in America, unlike the Man With No Name series, which were all shot in Spain... and... um... that's about it. It's quite bloated and takes an age to get going, where as all 3 Eastwood's Spaghetti Westerns are the real deal. And let's be honest, Charles Bronson's no Clint Eastwood.

The second one made the most extensive use of Lee van Cleef's talents. He had a charisma and magnetism about him that drew the viewer in. He could convey so much with his eyes and facial expressions without having to open his mouth. An extremely fine actor that left us far too soon.

16:06 -- FUN FACT: Not only is "Fistful of Dollars" based on "Yojimbo", but Clint Eastwood's "So Long!" parting line is a direct translation of what the ronin says in both Yojimbo and Sanjuro. SEE ALSO: Abayo.

I disagree with your review, especially about A Fistful of Dollars. I first saw this movie in the early 70's on BBC1 uncut, untampered with, unlike the US TV version, and it was a complete revelation. So what if it's a bare bones, low budget movie? It's better than what America was churning out at the same time. Fortunately here in the UK, much like the early John Carpenter movies, we understood the genre better and they were an instant success in my country before they were in the US. And let's not forget your own Mad Max trilogy is just an apocalyptic Aussie version of the Dollars Trilogy. Just for cinematic context, I have to remind myself that you actually liked Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and there ain't no coming back from that!!

I'd agree. You can see how they got bolder and more confident with each movie. without Fistful of Dollars or For A Few Dollars more coming first, The Good The Bad and The Ugly might not have been as good.

@@StamFine I agree. For a few dollars more &Fistfull of dollars ara inspired the character of blondy. But I can’t see any connection between those three films except the blondy’s unic dress. Blonde represents three characters in those three movies.

The good the bad and the ugly is the best western every made IMO. Leone had two practise attempts with the other two. That's how I see them. Tuco stole the show and his character added the X factor to the 3rd movie that the others didn't have.

Like a certain other prior western, A Fistful of Dollars was based on a Japanese Samurai film. Where the other film was based on Seven Samurai, A Fistful of Dollars was based on Yojimbo. If you'd like to see why AFoD was they way it was, you might like to watch Yojimbo.

Since Fistful of Dollars and For A Few Dollars More takes place in the 1870's, then The Good, The Bad and the Ugly must be a prequel since it takes place during the civil war.

I think they establish that by having blondie not having the poncho he wears for the other films, then obtaining it anew part way through the movie.

The soundtracks....used to freak me out. as I child I always wondered why the Italian Westerns looked weirdly different from the American ones... I had no clue it was produced in different countries...but I did notice how they all seemed to be in Mexico and everyone in urgent need of a bath and people dropping like flies 🤣 not gonna lie... I enjoy comedy spaghetti westerns ...

I live in Germany but am English and consume most of my films/tv in the original language. Funny thing is is that the German dubbing is vastly superior to the British dubbing. The Germans dubbing everything and have a strong dubbing repertoire. I’ve even had the odd experience of having seen a film in English and then catch it again on German… only to have discovered a superior film due to the higher quality dubbing and sound department. The Italian westerns dubbing is one of those instances… once you get over the fact it’s not Clint talking 😊

Imagine how much more triggering it would be for certain people if these movies had been made by Mexican filmmakers and had really been called "taco Westerns" instead. By now the term would've been canceled. However nobody gives a shit about the term "spaghetti Western," even to this day.
