Man v Agave: EPIC Battle to REMOVE a ONE TONNE MONSTER in Yard Makeover!!!
In this backyard transformation, I have to first make my way through the biggest Agave plant on the planet. This thing was massive. It took me 6 hours of work and 2 trips to the landfill to remove and weight a colossal 1.3 tonnes. Not only that, it gave me a horrible rash on my arms, but nothing some antihistamines couldn't fix. This yard is mostly used by the homeowner for her dogs, and there was dog poo everywhere. Normally, I take the grass away, but there was just too much poo.
All up, I spent around 12 hours on this job, including 3 trips to the landfill. This is part 3 of 3.

FAQ's:
Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷♂️
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.

You are one of a kind George. After suffering through all of this, you still hung the lattice! I absolutely am a lifetime fan! ❤
It looks like a giant pineapple with long leaves 😂 that thing is humongous 😳 George, I know you will give this property your very best shot at restoring it. Great job ! 💪💪👏🏼👏🏼🤩🏠
Hahaha, George has found the Audrey3 .. massive and wonderful restoration of this property!! 👏👏👍👍
Another brilliant job George 👍
What a gigantic agave!!👍👍
These three parts have to be one of the craziest clean-ups I've ever seen. Excellent work sir!
I think the plant is fantastic! It just was planted in the wrong spot and not cared for.

I was happy that he didn't completely remove it at least. Hopefully it will survive
Oh George, you do fabulous work. I just can't understand why people do not clean up after their animals . I live in Texas and have a yard man come once a week to mow, and I make clean up after my dogs at least every other day especially the day he comes. You always do great work!❤
I can give a thumbs Up before watching your videos.. 👌

The agave was planted in the wrong place but it didn’t know that. Never saw one that huge. As painful as it was to watch, it had to be done. Great video
Wow George you deserve a medal for this job, the transformation was amazing. The agave was epic. Your the best! 🤗👏🎖️
Gratuluji a přeji hezký víkend! 👍👍👍🌿👋
You are truly a master at what you do and I sincerely hope that you were paid appropriately for the amount of work that you have to do to get these places back in order
My Goodness, but I do love this channel 😊❤
i always watched your video before sleeping 😊
Another fantastic job 👌
Perfect!😊
Looks like a varigated agave americana
One of my fav make overs so far!!! 🎉🎉
You are the bomb man 💣love your work
Should’ve left some tufts on the top…it would’ve looked like giant pineapple!!
Love your work George ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Beautiful job.😊😊🎉
I am AMAZED !!! Incredible job! Will that plant still live being cut back that much? George you always go above and beyond but this is seriously NEXT LEVEL stuff! WELL DONE SIR!
Now that plant cut down looks like a big pineapple. Lolol
Sad to see just one thing. It was raspbarries. If you asks first from some gardener?

I think he's said before that he doesn't like them. Not sure why. My mother loved it when the neighbor's black raspberries came over our back fence
Will that agave grow back? It’s absolutely huge!
Looks like little shop of horrors lol
Hello. You're doing a great job. What model Honda lawn mower are you using?
nice
I don’t understand why you always completely cut back the statement plants like the rose or agave. I understand it needs to be a more manageable surface for the owners but why not let the interesting plants there. Its just a empty surface after your (super hard and great) work. It would maybe encourage people to start with the leftover plants and start over from here? Just my opinion.

I think he's cutting the roses out because someone could get hurt on the roses but I'm not sure why he's cutting agave out

I believe George said that the owner wanted the agave plant gone. As for the Rose's, cutting them back helps to encourage new growth and they will grow back.

This is an EXTREME makeover. This yard was infested and the owner is obviously unable to care for anything growing here. If you need more explanation, think of the dogs and the hazardous nature of those plants.

You should get a team member...chopping and taking it out and all aeems very tiring
Is this post apocalyptic cleaning of yard?
👍👍👍👍👍👍
How many tequilas can we make out of this giant agave? Or can this be used? LOL

Think the agave plant, aka creature from outer space, needs to just go. It's ugly and doesn't provide any redeemable features like visual interest in a corner to show its unique shape before being cut or shade for a very dry country it seems. Is there a green season there?
@VeryQC

Yes, our winters and springs are mostly green. We have just had a very dry summer, so everything is dead atm

I don't think the agave is ugly. I think it's (or was) magnificent!

I get it. I do. This agave was planted in the wrong place. You had to bring it down to a manageable level. But oh, how I wish it could have been in a spot where it could have flaunted its magnificence.
It's shameful to see a potentially nice yard let go to the shit house.
This plant should be in a horror movie. 🥸
