Man v Agave: EPIC Battle to REMOVE a ONE TONNE MONSTER in Yard Makeover!!!

Ойын-сауық

In this backyard transformation, I have to first make my way through the biggest Agave plant on the planet. This thing was massive. It took me 6 hours of work and 2 trips to the landfill to remove and weight a colossal 1.3 tonnes. Not only that, it gave me a horrible rash on my arms, but nothing some antihistamines couldn't fix. This yard is mostly used by the homeowner for her dogs, and there was dog poo everywhere. Normally, I take the grass away, but there was just too much poo.
All up, I spent around 12 hours on this job, including 3 trips to the landfill. This is part 3 of 3.
Part 01: • The Craziest Garden NI...
Part 02: • Rat Infested CATASTROP...

FAQ's:
Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.

Двор преобразился до неузнаваемости. Помойка была жуткая. Но Агаву мне жалко. Из прекрасного монстра с щупальцами, которые Вы, Джордж, обрубили, она превратилась в кочерыжку.😐

Oh George, you do fabulous work. I just can't understand why people do not clean up after their animals . I live in Texas and have a yard man come once a week to mow, and I make clean up after my dogs at least every other day especially the day he comes. You always do great work!❤

I don’t understand why you always completely cut back the statement plants like the rose or agave. I understand it needs to be a more manageable surface for the owners but why not let the interesting plants there. Its just a empty surface after your (super hard and great) work. It would maybe encourage people to start with the leftover plants and start over from here? Just my opinion.

I believe George said that the owner wanted the agave plant gone. As for the Rose's, cutting them back helps to encourage new growth and they will grow back.

This is an EXTREME makeover. This yard was infested and the owner is obviously unable to care for anything growing here. If you need more explanation, think of the dogs and the hazardous nature of those plants.

Think the agave plant, aka creature from outer space, needs to just go. It's ugly and doesn't provide any redeemable features like visual interest in a corner to show its unique shape before being cut or shade for a very dry country it seems. Is there a green season there?
